Why can't men cry? I don't have a problem with it.

People are people, people have emotions. Let it all out, I say!

As a man you should prefer to keep it bottled up in a deep dark place, only letting it out in the form of anger or pour said emotion into something constructive like work, the opposite sex, alcohol, and video games.

Pourquoi?

I think what Steelrails said probably hits the nail.

I think the only appropriate time is to cry at the death of a loved one... I don't care what other people think, if you aren't crying over a dead wife, you probably should be dead with her. Because you have no soul.

But a man crying at titanic? Wow, suck it up and maybe shoot some guns or something to reclaim the lost dignity. Celine Dion probably has more balls.

PS. I am manly, I have chest hair... absolutely delicious

I have never cried at a funeral; does this mean I'm not going to heaven?

And I'm No Picasso, you could never begin to make me cry, I have no tear ducts anyway.

you just have little mini fists in the corners of your eyes right?

i cry a lot during movies. Heck, nearly every pixar movie has made me shed a few tears.
recently gran torino, bucket list, and eternal sunshine made me cry.
and if this doesn't make you cry... I just don't know what will.

Right. Because you didn't pout your way straight out of that other thread yesterday, or anything. Wink

Anyway you look scrawny. I could just punch you in the balls.

Back in high school, when I was a less mature person, I had a boyfriend who was this same argh men are men! type. I used to make him cry for fun. If his big tough heavy metal listening friends ever knew what a huge baby he actually was....

Ever since I've never taken a man who makes claims like that seriously at all.

A dog dying or in pain can put me over the edge. Just dogs though, I don't know why.

Real men express their emotions. It's quite healthy, actually.

I overheard some lady employees talking at this coffee shop I frequent, and they were saying how there are degrees to which men crying is acceptable. For statistics purposes, the women ranged in age from years 18-32 and were your typical Long Island tanned honey, a Philippino punk rocker, a college engineering student, a self-proclaimed Jewbi (Jewish bi-sexual--I know, I never heard this before either)...so my point is that their views were all varied.

For example:

A. Death of a friend/family member/pet: acceptable
B. Sad movie: depending on the genre... chick flicks are not acceptable, war dramas are acceptable
C. Crying during a break-up: only acceptable if you like him, but it just won't work out. If you don't like him, then it's unacceptable.
D. Departure for a job, military duty, or school: a few teardrops are acceptable, but sobbing is not acceptable.

Not to be all fem, but WOW.

I seriously hope these girls are just a small minority of how women feel. Being a woman, I really never had to think about this. WTF?!

I wonder if these women realize that they're essentially partaking in male oppression here (at least in the way the word oppression tends to be used by feminists).

Not that I care, I'll cry if and when I like.

Refusing to be baited and quitting a ridiculous thread is in no way pouting, I was simply tired of posting. Scrawny =/= toned. I am 6'1" and weigh 185, plus I'm sure I'm faster than you, you don't seem the working out type (your blog picture is hot). And I'm not trying to be a macho man, and I also admitted that I must be fundamentally flawed/emotionally absent or damaged for not being able to cry when circumstance calls for it.

Regardless, your constant claims of superiority and dominance reflect a much weaker person and you probably do not have much fun in Korea.

I am tired of this senseless and childish internet bickering and will no longer respond to any attack or taunt you direct at me on these boards.

I apologize if I have offended anyone.

Good lord if it wasn't clear that that was a joke, then I just don't know what to do. Why would I actually want to punch you in the balls? Good to see I'd never be able to get to you though, tough guy. An especially big thanks for the part about how you're sure to be faster than me, which suggests that, were said hypothetical ball-punching scenario to actually occur, you would handle the situation by running away.

Look. I'm giving you a hard time. But I find it pretty hard to resist messing with the macho "bro" thing you've got going on left and right all over this board. Especially when you start by saying something like "I rate women on a 1-10 scale because I'm hot and also I never cry because I'm a real man and I have muscles," and end with, "I'm not going to dignify that hurtful comment with a response."

Thanks for checking the blog, though! Happy reading! Wink

Of course I would; while it might not seem like it on Dave's...I am not a barbarian and I would never hit a lady.

Well, unless she had a gun, or a katana...

Oh for Christ's sake. Stop worrying about what you seem like on Dave's. This place is a hole. We all know it.

I found this whole thread a bit weird... as in I wonder if it's all a joke or not.

I have found sadness to be very strongly connected with love. If I don't feel love there is no way I'll cry (I guess there can be some extreme situations, but I haven't been in those yet). The more I love someone the easier that person can make me cry, and this is not something I'm ashamed of. If a girl I love betrays me do you guys suggest I should rather beat her up instead of crying? I know some guys would do that, but not really my style.
