If you never came back to Korea, or Asia, what holiday, tourist site is the most memorable? What would you say to never leave without seeing?? What let you down??
For me the top site was the terracotta soldiers in China. I have never felt that close to history, and the fact that its not behind glass, that you can actually smell the clay, made it an unbelievable experience.
My worst was the great wall. The great wall didnt feel authentic, and it was a very polluted day so i didnt get the awesome views i expected. I guess i just built up too much hype. |
Where are the terracotta soldiers in China? Also, I am considering travelling to China from Korea --- how do I get the visa?
Thanks,
Sugar
p.s. If Boracay Island is being ruined, where else is there to go in the Philippines? I'm keen to go there too! |

I liked Boracay very much, although it's been five years. Best sunsets I've ever seen. Other areas that are nice are Sabang / White Beach near Puerto Galera.
I know a lot of people don't like Kuta in Bali, but I like the tourist cheez and the energy and the bikini girls. Nearby Jimbaron is where I had the best fish in my life.
I hated Taipei; boring, dirty, expensive, rainy. Jeju-do was like going to a rural Korean village with nicer weather and palm trees. You can have anything you like to eat, so long as it's seafood.
Vietnam got on my nerves, but I thought Tam Coc was gorgeous, and Halong Bay is well worth seeing as well.
To me it is more about things you do in Asia than places you go. Eating food and drinking beer in an outdoor market. Sitting on a beach. Sleeping on a train. Buying pirate DVDs. Pho on a cold day. Puppet shows. Gamelan music. |

Taipei expensive? In what sense? most of the food I ate there was about half the price as in korea. i've heard rents are high relative to salaries, but that doesn't affect tourists...my hotel (dingy as it was) was less than 20 USD a night for a private room/shared bath.
Do you mean going up the 101? Cuz that's the most expensive thing I did...
One thing about that place is the weather, I guess I can handle crazy humidity when I'm writing around a tuk-tuk all day, but using mass transit and walking around.....one late September day in Taipei was probably worse than any hot day I've experienced in Seoul. |
