Well Endgame had a classic Chakotay beat right at the end, where the actor's expression is "so we're home-well whatever I'm laughing all the way to the bank."
Worth the download for me.
The other thing about this is the whole Mitochrondial Eve thing. I'd known that it's passed only from mother to daughter. The DNA is completly separated from our own, making it very useful to evolutionary science.
So any of Athena's daughters would have the same mDNA. But of course Athena was a clone...
Again I'm going to pretend that that 150,000 years figure was a typo. The invisible hand of God. |

Do you like the Austin Powers films, OneWayTraffic and others here? Do you remember this exchange in the second one...?

Austin: Wait a tick. Basil, if I travel back to 1969 and I was frozen in 1967, presumeably, I could go back and visit my frozen self. But, if I'm still frozen in 1967, how could I have been unthawed in the '90s and traveled back to...[goes cross-eyed]
Austin: Oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed.
Basil: I suggest you don't worry about those things and just enjoy yourself.
[to camera]
Basil: That goes for you all, too.
Austin: Yes. |

Gopher: The problem I have is that despite the finale, nothing much happened on earth for the next 120,000 years or so. If they'd really given language, agriculture and writing especially, then we'd be about 140,000 years ahead of where we are-as those things were never developed in our history so early.
I'm willing to suspend disbelief on it, and I like the way you expressed it, but something rankles a little with it. As I said, I'm going to imagine that things really worked out like that.
Aside from that nit, and it bothers me much less now than when I'd first seen it, I think the finale was pretty much all I could have hoped for. The parody of the DS9 finale, when instead of peace we have the main players just blowing each other away in CIC was fantastic. |
I agree. If they would have gone 10k years ago I could have bought into it more. That might explain things like pyramids and all the other marvels of architecture from ancient history. |
