DO you list ALL your teaching experience? Or just the most recent few? What's expected for Korea? |

Use the same format you would for any job.
Only include relevant teaching experience. For example if you are applying for teaching positions for adults, don't list all of elementary classes. Only list the teaching that is relevant. However, if you don't have relevant experience list all teaching.
It really depends on how much you have. I cannot list every teaching job that I have had. If I am applying for a university position, I focus on my years of Uni teaching. If I am applying for academic writing teacher, then that is what I focus on.
You don't want to have gaps though, but there is a way to emphasize relevant experience and qualifications.
No University worth its salt is going to care that you taught kindergarten for 4 years. They want to know that you can teach the material that they provide for their students. |

I've had 3 different jobs in Korea. None of them checked references.
I could have put down ANYTHING on my CV |

2002-2006 various schools in Peru
* facilitated conversation classes
*implemented a debate team...
If you are currently teaching young learners it is harder to go to university.
I was teaching at the University and wanted to go back to teach elementary age and a lot of jobs didn't even give an interview because my most recent position was University. I just left it off the next time I applied.
In your cover letter truly emphasize teaching adults.
Do not include private lessons on your resume, even though they might be legal for you in Peru, they are not in Korea for most people and some employers look down on it. |

Thanks for the tip about private lessons. Didn't know about htat. I put 1-on-1, hope that's ok. BUt I could delete it as well.
I did this
cut off the CHina experience since it was with YL.
2004 to 2006 uni in Peru
2006 to 2007 secondary school in Peru teaching exams, FCE and CAE
2007 to 2008 another uni in Peru.
I'm hestitant to just smush them all together, so think I'll just leave them separate.
I currently, irony of ironies, teach Korean primary and secondary kids here. Private lessons.
When you wanted to go back to Elementary, you simply deleted your current job? DIdn't that raise flags as you were currently not working? |
