Truthfully I really enjoy the BokBunJa - Korean Raspberry Wine -

When hiking though, it Makkoli %100 all the way!

Anyone else got a favorite drink from Korea?

mak gul li (preferably from the cart-seller who haunts hongdae and sinchon, never found his stuff in the store) and the occasional ohshipseju.

I mostly stick to whatever cheap german beer (usually around 2000 won for 500 ml) they have at Emart or Homeplus though.

Bokbunja is nice once in a while, but I find it too sweet. When hiking, I'll stop for dongdongju. It's an old man's drink, but great when it's fresh.

I don't like soju... unless it's mixed with cider (sprite)!

my absolute favorite!!

but i've always preferred all things berry Very Happy

that Korean blackberry "raspberry" wine is really good as a base for a sauce in a beef stirfry... mmmm... half of it boils away by the time the meat is cooked, the onions and peppers soak in the stuff, everything tender and a bit sweet.... i have it once or twice a month

It sounds like you're no stranger to the punk rock scene at Skunk Hell.

The best places to have makoli is an alleyway in Insadong. They serve it in Basins. An Awesome atmosphere and cheap.

I second dongdongju. It's always guaranteed to be on every school hiking trip. It's the only time I drink it, but it is by far my favorite Korean alcoholic beverage.

It occured to me a few months ago that the Raspberry wine would be good in a stir fry sauce. Good to know that somebody tried it and liked it.

Bokbunja is not too bad when you mix it with red grape juice, otherwise I find it a bit too tart. Though you can make soju drinkable by mixing it with aloe juice.

That's easy. Rubbing alcohol.

Anything tastes better than soju.

That berry stuff is good, but I couldn't imagine drinking enough to get drunk. If I just want to get drunk I chug entire bottles of soju and chase it with banana milk. Beats drinking a 12 pack of Cass. The Kirkland brand vodka that comes in the huge bottles is the best bargain for booze in Korea.

i'll stick to the soju... raspberry stuff is too sweet and makgoli gets sickening after a cup.

Soju is peasant liquor, not fit for human consumption.

I guess many people don't like themselves very much.
