Yeah, I'm an idiot....but I will be getting a new one next week.

Has anybody else experienced this?

I will go to immigration soon afterwards, but will I have any problem getting my work visa stamps?

Will I have to purchase new stamps?

When my passport expired when I was in Japan, I actually didn't get a new one until I needed to get a new visa. I guess it would have been a dumb move if I had to leave the country before that time, but I went to the US embassy, not immigration.

This allowed me to bypass immigration issues of putting a new visa stamp with the same dates in the passport. If you are almost done with your contract, you might want to wait for your next job. That way you only pay for the new visa stamp.

Not sure what your nationality is, but Korean Immigration and/or your embassy might want to see a police report, considering that passport fraud is taken pretty seriously and whoever may have found yours might try to sell use it or sell it to someone with less than honorable intentions. It's probably a good idea to go to the nearest precinct and fill out a form just to cover your bases. As for the stamps, I'm not sure how that would work. I lost my UK passport two years ago. When I got my new one it stated on the back page; "This passport is a replacement for passport # ________ reported lost/stolen on (insert date)." So when immigration sees your passport, just direct them to this page. You should be fine. I don't think you will need new stamps. I didn't.

Still, it would be extra helpful if you had a photocopy of the information page of your old passport. You probably have a copy in your email account that you used to apply for your current job. Just print it off and keep it with your new passport.

But I doubt very much there will be any problem.

I've had to replace my passport and visas many times.

I lost my passport a while ago and I needed to go to the police station and fill out a form. I hope you already did this.

As for a visa transfer, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. They have your old info...they'll just stamp you a new visa. It should be quick and painless. I've had to do it three times now and I'm pretty sure it was free each time. (passports expiring while the visa was still good, but that may be an F thingy)
