I used to live in Anyang. One night, shortly after I first arrived in Korea, I went out drinking with my Korean colleagues. A good group of guys, but so very Korean. They got talking about their trips overseas, the various countries they had visited. We got around to talking about our favorite cities. I mentioned that I liked Dublin, London and Paris. One well travelled colleage said he loved Rome. Then Mr. Choi starts in about how 'Daejeon is a really beautiful city.' I couldn't find the words to answer. I just stared at him in disbelief. London, Paris, Dublin, Rome....Daejeon? He had been to London. He thought Daejeon was nicer. Very Happy

About nine months ago a female Korean friend (married to an American) was about to head back to Hawaii for six months. She wasn't happy about it at all. 'Korea is nicer than Hawaii', she says. 'Even the beaches are nicer.'

Okey dokey!

Just plain silly stuff.

Sounds like what Americans say with anything having to do in regards to America.

Whatever it is, America is always better at it.

Some Koreans focus on a lot of national pride and some posters focus on putting them down. In every country, you have good and bad acting people.
