Jesus, I'm depressed, someone said Korean MAFIA. What an insult.

Hey but that's pretty funny Homer. I've never seen a guy cleaning his nose with a toothbrush no matter what he was sniffing.
is that what you meant?

Some people believe everything and some people believe nothing. It's interesting that the bulk of these guys can't be shut-down in Korea when "tapping" cell phones (and I'll just take a "Slippery Slope" line of logic in assuming other phones) is done with such ease in Korea.

Heck- the Korean gangsters are always whipping out their cells and interception of text-messaging/calls can't be that hard. If we can eye-ball these guys after living some years in Korea, why are the police in Korea and other countries so ineffective????

If it's true that the AOC is raking in Billions upon Billions of dollars there has to be lots of what I believe the CIA/FBI call "noise" or "chatter." Even if these organizations have an elaborate code- likely only 6 months of interception would do it to get the drift of what they are up to. Surely governments still have the bulk of higher tech (though I do notice the Russians are selling lots of "higher tech" to the world e.g. GPS blockers that can block GPS signals in a wide-wide area.

Has the thought never crossed your mind mafias clear across the globe have for years now all too often acted in cooperation w/ govts on numerous levels & capacities Question

As it stands, i had a discussion in class today w/ a handful of my more mature "advanced" students; based largely on the story links provided through this thread. For all of the Devil's Advocates out there, aside from the alleged military collaboration re: human trafficing, sex camps & the like they were actually quite hip to the state of Korea's day to dayrealpolitick ... yo yo yo ... yo homeboy ... Surprised

Rather to my surprise, Shocked it was even confirmed by all there's plenty of online HANGUL discussion & chat re: these shameful creatures. Asking the students what they thought as to the police sitting back & simply twiddling their thumbs while neighbourhood DUKGOGI adjumas are extorted to the tune of $1.5 milion won per month, coffee girls are enslaved etc, etc, they essentially replied it's because, as is the case in the west & elsewhere, the majority of influential ones are themselves little more than smooth amoral badge-carting criminals "on the take"

kidnappings of young girls disapearing happened in korean about twenty years ago.

i don't think it happens today. maybe the occasional one here and there. but not enought to warrant a worry.

---- I believe this to be true. Interesting discussions for adults. I've had some whoppers myself and they were fairly open. Yet- I made them split into teams of two and debate for both sides giving reasons why they believe something to be true or not true. This took a patience grinding month to really get going and then they liked it.

So- "the code of silence" makes it extremely difficult to investigate- especially when these girl's families are under the threat of death and perhaps anyone who would help them.

I wonder whether or not the numbers have dropped or the gangsters are just getting better at what they are doing. The reason I wonder is that organizations around the world are saying the numbers are increasing as well as the $ signs. Sure- population might have something to do with it.
