Oy vei, I've found it quite impossible to find any job at all at this rate.
There is absolutely no job agency that I can find on the net that would even help me. The only one I found was TALK and they want to send me away. And I mean AWAAAAAYYYY. Gangwon-do anyone?
So just a question to any gyopos that are getting around without a bachelor's degree; How do you do it? I mean other than private tutoring?
Is it technically "illegal" to hire someone without e-2 visa as every job agency and their mom states it?
Oh and by the way, I think I posted something like this earlier. I worked from SAMICK for 2 months and they only wanted to pay me 700,000KRW per month. 12 hour days with weekends off. No bonus pay.
What to do... :/ |

Welcome to the life of a korean without a degree. Your only option is to fly yourself over (if you are not already here). Get an f4 and hit the pavement. But like what was said earlier get a degree |

Because he can speak English? Plenty of people can teach very well without a degree, and plenty of Koreans teach English without a degree by doing private one on one tutoring. My girlfriend does this, and she speaks much better English than my hakwon employee coworkers.
Maybe it is illegal in Korea to teach at a hakwon without a degree, but that is because of the government's perverted educational policies and restrictions on what consumers are allowed to choose. However, I've known gyopos without degrees who worked at hakwons." Keep in mind that the "illegality" of this is not severe, if it is illegal at all. My girlfriend is saying it probably isn't a law at all. |

| Like others said, if you fly yourself over, it might be possible. But if you're thinking about getting a job in Seoul, that'd be a little harder. |

| I've heard it's legal for Koreans and people with F visas to teach at the elementary level without a degree and that it's only illegal to teach at middle school and above without a degree. I know of a couple of gyopos who teach at hogwans with an associates degree or having only finished a couple of years towards a degree... and worked with Koreans who had yet to graduate as well. |

Er Already in Korea.
I've been looking for a job since September '09 and no bites cept the TALK program. They used to have positions in gyeonggido but now they don't for some reason...
Anyone know about Voice acting jobs? I heard that there's a fair demand for English voice actors in Korea. I mean... Seriously... Some of the English voice actors here suck ass. |

Legal Work
You cant get a job teaching unless it's for the TALK program. F-4 or not, its id ILLEGAL for anyone (incl. Koreans) to TEACH at a hagwon or school without a degree.
If a hagwon does decide to hire you, you'd better stock up on vaseline because you will need it. You're at their mercy for whatever salary, hours or demeaning jobs that shove on you.
Get your degree or look for something not in the education industry.
Illegal is a different story. |

How can anyone without a degree find any type of job that pays enough money to live well. |

Oh my mistake...I thought foreigners always complained about Koreans breaking their own laws. My bad I thought we were talking about legal work.
There is a way for someone without a degree to teach, but I'm not going to help some uneducted schmuck (and no I'm not talking abou the WIN program or any of those other slave wage government run programs).
Well if your girlfriend say it's so, then it must be true...lol.
OP go back home and finish school. Take a bunch of SAT prep stuff and teach that. You'll be worked to death, but you'll make crazy coin. You'll be just like a real Korean, but you'll make more $$. |

If you don't have a degree, then you are teaching without the proper credentials to get an E-2 (perhaps you have another visa).
Anyway, consider that you are competing with many teachers that do have a degree. Of course it will be difficult to get a job except out in the boondocks.
There are distance education programs that will help you become more competitive. |

Alright so I'm suppose to spend money to make money.
Well thanks I guess? I thought I was going to get some actual key points but seems like all I got was rubbish. Well, I did realize that I had one advantage though: it's not illegal for me to private teach.
On the other hand, you guys with e-2 visas get the shaft since they deport you right away if they catch you doing ANYTHING illegal.
Cool.
This actually makes me feel better about myself.
Please excuse me as I run hagwons dry while I join a group of gyopo private teachers.
