|
|
One of the questions on this form is "Have you ever received treatment for Mental/Neurotic/Emotional disorders?"
I got a diagnosis for A.D.D. from my university's health center last year so I could get try Adderall (attention pills). I never even finished the first bottle as they made me too jittery and uncomfortable.
If I disclose this diagnosis, will it affect my application? If I lie and answer "no" to that question, do they have any way of accessing my medical records and finding out? I don't feel like anyone would have access to my medical records... then again, I'm the one trying to get into their country, so who knows.
If I had a serious disease like HIV or tuberculosis or something, I would never consider lying about. I really don't think I ever had A.D.D. anyway... they'll give that diagnosis to anyone who thinks they have it.
thanks, Bob

You're being paranoid.
Just say no. You barely even took it, so unless you have a severe case you're omitting I don't see what the big deal is.
Korean immigration won't access all of your records, lol |

Yeah, probably.... but I really don't want to be reckless and do something stupid. Even though it's not a big deal, I don't want to lie about it. I only want to lie if they are unreasonable enough to reject my visa over something as harmless as ADD.
Has anyone run into problems with the health statement for any reason? I was hoping someone might have some personal experience to share. PM me if you're willing to help, but don't want your potentially embarrassing story out in the open. I'd appreciate any solid advice. Thanks. |

You are bein a little to paranoid. Most people who have ADD will not answer that6. Korean Immi does not always behave logically. They see anything negative they will generally just say NO. So unless you are so spaced and distracted with ADD I would just ignore it. As you said you never did complete you pills. This is a similar question for those with depression. Some people have mild depression who need prozac or whatever. They are overall fine and can work fine here. But once again unless you suffer from extremes like you can not get out of bed you are so depressed you can just say no.
So in the end just say NO. They will likely never check on it. |

Definitely answer NO.
They'll look for anything to hold against you, and Koreans are still pretty biased about that kind of medication. And you said it yourself- it's not like it's a serious problem or anything.
Don't worry about it. They won't access those records, so just say no and stick to your story. |

Thanks for the responses. You are all probably right. I wondered if I was overthinking this, but I have no way of knowing this kind of thing. This is our first time living abroad... we're (my wife and I) just trying to be thorough. |

It's a discriminatory hiring practice which shouldn't be tolerated. Lie. I've been told they'll reject you if you don't, and it really shouldn't be their business. |

Absolutely, unequivocally answer no. Of course they don't have access to your medical records. |
