I have a contract and a visa completely processed. My job starts in about 7 weeks. I have been trying to schedule a minor surgery before I go, but I have had problems with my insurance and now I won't be able to get the operation in before I am supposed to leave. Assuming my employer can't work this out with me, what are the repercussions of backing out of this job now? Will I be able to get another job and visa?
note* the surgery isn't for something life threatening, but is important for my quality of life. Non cosmetic. |

The only repercussion is that you will be unable to get a new visa for the next 90 days (until the entry period of your current visa expires).
Oh, and your new employer may not be very happy about it and not want to hire you later (like who cares). |

You could always get the surgery in Korea and it'll be covered under a 50/50 insurance plan. |
