I called the Pension office. After I did that, my boss agreed to have a meeting with ALL the teachers together to discuss the situation. We'll see how that goes... Meanwhile, the Pension Office is waiting for me to come in and sign a statement. I'll keep you posted.

I find that website curious. They seem to claim to be the all-knowing entity about korean laws, but in their disclaimer, they state very clearly that their comments are purely for interest, you can't sue them and their info may be incorrect or inaccurate.

Pretty standard ACM. I don't see a problem there.

There is no "EFL" law in Korea. There are labour laws that apply to everyone including english instructors both Korean and foreign alike. To give the impression that it's purely EFL law is misleading and deceptive. More accurately, it would be a useful labour law "guide", but not an authority with any real power to do anything.

You're kind of splitting hairs here. It's a web site that highlights labor law for the EFL set. I don't think it claims there is a subset of labor law that apply to EFL types. In any regard the advice seems sensible and if you have a better online source as a guide, I'd like to know.

Not a website that can only give you opinions.

That's what law firms usually offer: legal opinions.

I think you missed the point

"EFL-LAW"

With the nice symbols of justice and the expressions of authority. "If you have a problem, call us".

Yes they are offering advice, but I found the website very misleading in the way it presented its impression.

I still think it's a useful site, but there is a better source of information out there, and it's called the immigration office. I find that that seems to suggest its wording to pit the "teacher" against the "evil immigration" office. And I find that just wrong.

From the numerous times I've seen conflicting information coming from the immigration office I'd say that they are NOT the best source of information. It seems like answers vary widely from immigration depending on who answers the phone. I've heard only good things from people who have contacted EFL Law. I don't see any problem with seeking information from them.
