I can't help but agree with both Just because and Sadsac: what goes around comes around.

Kiddirts, you did a midnight run on your last Korean job, went to work in Taiwan, only to run right back after a couple of months. Then you immediately arranged to work illegally in Korea.

I defer all comment to the great Asian philosopher:

"Riches and honour are what men desire; but if they aspire to them by improper ways, they should not continue to hold them. Poverty and low estate are what men dislike; but if they are brought to such condition by improper ways, they should not feel shame for it."

Don't worry about what the others are saying. I did the illegal thing for my first two years and made up to 5.2 mill. a month. The trick is not to rely on one guy. Rapier was right about having a backup here. Now I teach legally, I still have problems getting my boss to stick to his end of the contract at times. When I taught illegally I was paid weekly at 35,000 won per hour and as soon as things looked shaky I left straight away. Don't get paid monthly if you are illegal. You are bound to get burnt if you do. I would advise you to go the legal way because even though the illegal way looks good from the outside, stability makes me feel a whole lot better. Smile

the man needed money and had bills to pay. So that was his justification for working illegally. In the end, he's burned, lost a nice sum of money and is somewhat screwed because he can't get his illegal postion...I'm crying with laughter already. He wasn't screwed, he screwed himself. His greed made him come here, his stupidity made him pay all the bills on his own to work illegally and his naivity saw him trust someone he didn't know with so much at stake while at the same time getting bad vibes from lack of action. Shocked

I agree with the previous poster, best to stay home and find a job there. If you have "bills" to pay, you don't have to find a way to scam easy money in Korea to pay them. In the end, you got burned, and I find that somewhat satisfying.

Enjoy your flight home.

Kiddirts didn't run to Taiwan last fall??
(Who the heck was it who did?)

If you have no midnight runs under your belt, then you've just been unfortunate and would be well served by the advice others are giving to go legal or trust only as far as you need to.

I most certainly do, it's absolutely vital. If you can't trust your dealer who can you trust !

BTW, I know people who hold down the legit job and do privates and get the 5mil. I personally couldn't be bothered, but it can be done.

Why would I do that? I just paid the last payment my apartment yesterday. That feels so much better than paying off a student loan. My own home paid off in 1.5 years. Gotta love it!

woohoo!

I see rapier and bjon have green eyes ($$), but I think some people need to grab hold of their sack and remove the pillow sheets from over their heads.

Let me get this straight Kiddirts, you have been stuffed around twice since you came here and almost been(and still could be ) ripped off and come on here panicking and then you make a comment like this.

Mate you are the one who needs to remove the paper bag that is clouding your brain because obviously you are in need of some help.

It's a whole different ball game if you gotta fly out every 3 months. If I could fly out once every half a year, it would be just lining up the part-times and away I go...

I have a couple of buddies who did the 3 month visa run for a couple of years. They were only making in the mid 2 mil range but still they found it no sweat forking out approx. 270,000 every 90 days. That's only 90,000 a month or 3,000 per day. Think of it as a taxi ride, the cost of doing business. For Pete's sake, lazy, greedy, and cheap. what a combo.
