I read that they are very scarce. That still true?

Hate to be carrying round alot of money with me, but might have to do it

Was thinking of some kind of money belt

Know of any other types, other than the standard round the waist ones?

Cheers

I was just in Phnom Penh last week and there were ATMs everywhere!! I'm guessing it's the same in Siem Reap and some of the other large cities.

They have atms everywhere in Cambodia esp PP and SR. Basic infrastructure aside, the services, shops and restaurants are of a high standard: funded by tourist $$ that is no surprise.

I had no problem getting cash in Laos. There were multiple ATMs in Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang where I was able to use my KEB debit card, most were available 24/7 (except when the power was out).

Having some US dollars was useful though as there were a few things I was able to get a better rate on paying in USD.

I didn't have a problem finding ATM's, but some travelers said they couldn't use their bank cards at all locations.
