I have never seen a tenure-track position advertised for M.A.'s.
The shape of things to come?
It doesn't list salary. Nine hours a week is obviously decent. They want publications.

Any mention of the pay? Is it really tenure? Bait and switch? |

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A completed Ph.D. by the time of appointment OR MA in the above-mentioned fields with a substantial amount of college-level teaching experiences.
Strong English oral and written communication skills |
This hints rather strongly at what they actually want (see bolded part).
It is also 9 CREDITS a semester and not 9 hours a week.
Also: The successful candidate will serve as the core faculty conducting research and teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in the department of English language and literature.
The normal teaching load is 9 credits per semester. Additional duties will vary depending on university and academic unit education needs, such as advising and mentoring students and serving on departmental and institutional committees.
So undergrad and grad courses, research, mentoring grad students, committees...you can bet this boils down to a lot more than 9 hours per week.
Still interesting job if its in your field of expertise. |

It will definitely be more than 9 hrs. per week and what they really want is a Ph.D. Not many MA holders have "substantial" university teaching experience. |

I have no doubt the job would be a lot more than 9 hours. Still, it's the first tenure track ad I have ever seen in which an M.A. will be considered. I hope there's more. |

Substancial university experience would be how many years? 10? 20? |

I also doubt unless the MA has serious publications under his/her belt they would be considered either. Just lecturing isn't enough to qualify for tenure track positions.
I would be quite surprised if someone with an MA would get the job. There are a lot of hungry PhD's out there. |

The ad says, if you read it carefully that what they want is a PhD holder or someone who is currently doing a PhD and will be finished with it by the time the job starts.
The M.A. mention is there but the way its presented means a M.A. would have little chance of getting the job (read the requirements when it comes to experience and publications).
Of course, an exceptional M.A. with numerous serious publications, extensive experience as a University Instructor or lecturer could sneak in.
No shortage of {PhDs looking for such work out there however..... |
