Hey guys,

I can't seem to find this question on Yahoo Answers, so I thought I'd ask it here:

When an agent says can get you a competitively priced flight to Seoul from North America (my case Montreal), how much are we talking? I just found one with Air Canada (I know.. I know) for $746 tax included, with a 2 hr stopover in Toronto. Can an agent beat something like that?

Thats a fair price.

You can get cheaper if you fly through the US. Try Delta-Northwest with the Montreal - Detroit (or Minneapolis) - Incheon route

American Airlines: Montreal -Chicago - Seoul (Incheon)

Air Canada also has a Montreal - Vancouver - Seoul route that can be decent...they code share with Korean air on some routes.

Call Wonder Travel (or Wonder Holidays) in China Town Montreal. We used them in the past when flying out of Montreal...they have good rates.

I don't know what your situation is, but I would highly recommend getting a return ticket. It isn't that much more expensive. Worth the security to have a ticket home.

How is Montreal these days?

I haven't been back there for nearly 20 years.

There is no way they codeshare with Korean air. More likely they do so with Asiana...

It's.... rainy and wet in the winter, but very pleasant during the summer. Last summer it rained a lot, but if you were able to get out on the nice days it wasn't so bad.

I definitely don't need a return flight. I didn't study Korean and take courses in Korea just to chicken out when I arrive.

As for the flight I have a Montreal Vancouver one at a similar price that I posted above. Not having to go through the US will be a hassle I don't need to think of (customs wise).

Hate to break it to you, but the only time I've flown Air Canada was SFO-ICN via Vancouver. The flight from Vancouver was a code share with KAL.

I also had AC flights to Korea a few years ago that were code-shares with KAL (mixed crews). My friend flew to Incheon last week with AC out of Toronto and it was a mixed crew flight with KAL.

Maybe its not an official codeshare however.

As for the OP...going through the US is not a hassle as you basically go through US customs in Montreal and then are on your way with no other hassles until Korean customs in Seoul. The price however can be significantly cheaper.

As for the one-way vs return ticket. Unless you have a work-visa in hand, going with just a one-way might mean trouble for you either at the airline counter in Toronto or Van or at Korean customs.
