I don't know what people expect in a recruiter. They are not your mommy and daddy, you are not a crying 8 year old (or are you?), and they will not hold your hand while you live your life as an adult.

They got you a school, you didn't like it, don't blame them crying and whining here. Find another school.

I worked with Appletree (Sunny) and they were great. No pressure, reply quickly, no problem with me rejecting jobs, listen to my preferences, always try to help. I didnt end up taking a job with them, but I recommend Appletree as a good recruiting agency and I would certainly use them again in the future.

for those of you who seem to misunderstand my meaning to this post... refer to the reply from sketcha. i do not blame appletree for my problems with the school. i simply blame in-hui for misleading me.
sure... she sounds like a nice lady when you talk to her. but there is a huge difference between talking to her and getting the warm and fuzzy feeling and taking a job through her. it is unfortunate that she could not follow through on her words.
i am just trying to alert others that this can happen with ANY recruiter and i am one example. i want to inform other EFL teachers so that they can avoid a similar predicament.

Ok...let me give my two cents here.

I feel for you and it sucks. BUT THIS IS SOMETHING EVERYONE GOES THROUGH WITH THEIR FRIST SCHOOL! But you are an adult and you can see that the recruiter is just trying to GET PAID. This is a business, and they are dealing with not only you, but tons of others, so you are just another person in the stack of papers to them. They dont know you, and you dont know them. Dont trust people you dont know, or have never seen. You may have talked over the phone for months, but they are just trying to get you here, not be your friend. Recruiting is big business and the best lie very well. Well, I should say that the ones that make the most money lie their arses off. Dont get angry at them, or dwell on it. Learn from the situation and dont make the mistake again.

Your first year sucks a big donkey *beep*, but after that, things get smoother.....and if your like me, you get to a uni job fast and actually start to have a real experience in Korea.

Recruiters are the same as any other business man. But, I feel your pain. Cheer up, it gets a lot better
