For those of you who reside in Bucheon city or who frequent there, a new Mexican eatery popped up near line-1, Songnae station. It's been there for about a month now I think and I have gotten to know the owner quite well. He's a young guy and can speak English.

Places like these never last too long and I don't want see this place shut down due to lack of business. The food is great and the service is superb. You can sit in and enjoy a Negra Modelo/Corona/Magarita/Sol with your fajita or take your food to go. I'm just trying to help him out by posting this. Thanks for the read.

Info:

Taco Ria
Tel: 032)326-1616

-North side (exit #2 I think...the side where Lotteria is on).
-Get out and keep to your right
-Keep walking until you get to the crosswalk
-Cross over and walk towards the big Toona building (just look up...the building sells clothes just like Migliore or Doota)
-While facing Toona, walk towards your left along the sidewalk there
-You will pass a newly renovated corner shop that sells sunglasses, contact lenses and such
-Just walk up a few stores and you should see the green and red diner on your right
-Altogether, it's about a 7 minute walk from the station

Menu
Taco (Beef/Chicken)..............4,000/4,500
Burrito (Beef/Chicken)...........5,000/5,500
Quesadilla (Beef/Chicken)......5,000/5,500
Fajita (Beef/Chicken).............6,000/6,500
Nachos.................................3,500

Booze 5k a piece

Portions are generous and there is a promotion every week (2 + 1 for booze, free lemonade, combo menus, etc).

hey dude,

thanks for the post! I just got back from taco ria and i gotta say it was pretty awesome. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. Really reasonably priced too.

up till now I always got my taco fix in hongdae and itaewon. All the places i've tried have been pretty sub par. expensive and stingy, and not all that delicious either.

all you Bucheon peoples. Support this place. I hope it is here for a long time.

oh yeah.

the place is located on the same side of the street as the entrance to Toona. No more than say 50 meters from the entrance. If you pass the Meritz building you've gone too far. Enjoy. Thanks.

General rule about restaurants in Korea. If the food is international and
the quality is excellent, it usually disappears quickly.

This is true for places outside of Seoul. Sad, but true.

I went there today at 11:25 am and it was closed. The sign inside said it's open 11-11, not specifying any closing days.

Very disappointing.

*Post modded for accuracy

Closed Sundays. For the rest of the week, better to head there around noon. Most of the restaurants in the area don't start serving food until 11:30 or so. He's a young guy starting out his first business and the business is still in its stage of infancy. As for today, I rang him up and apparently, his sister got really sick and needed surgery so he had to take her to the hospital and therefore, could not get the shop until noon.

Regardless, the food is good, service is good, and the food is reasonably priced. The interior decor/music is welcoming and reflective of the type of food being served. I've met a lot of satisfied expats who frequent there. If you do decide to give him another chance, the next time you go there for an early lunch, feel free to give the number a call to see if he's there. He's the only one who runs the place and speaks English. His sister might answer during the evenings but she can speak English also. They'll gladly answer any your questions.

Oops. Owner just notified me that he will now open 7-days a week. Regardless, if you've come a long way, feel free to call to make sure he's open for business.

Thanks again for reading.

Went there today.

I tried the tacos, fajitas and burritos. For the price you really can't go wrong. The burrito was packed, also, you get two tacos (you can choose wheat or corn or 1 of each), and two fajitas. The guy gives you very generous portions of sour cream, salsa and jaleppenos. The ingredients were authentic, and overall, considering this is a one man job, I was highly impressed.

Go and support him. It seems like a strange place to have a Mexican restaurant and this guy needs all the support he can get!

Cheers

Back again with an update. Thank you for taking the time to read this little post.

Dongyo, the owner of Taco Ria has returned from his one month hiatus and is back up for business starting today.

His words:

"I was feeling the pressure and fatigue being only a one man army running the place and having had no luck hiring anyone to help given the remote area I'm located in, I eventually overextended myself. I realized that when I chose to run this type of restaurant, business would be quite the challenge but did not realize it would take so much out of me being my first business.

Hence, I decided to take a one month break from my duties and this started when the big snow storm hit us a few weeks back. I traveled alone to Europe and around Korea. It was extremely refreshing! Now, I'm back and feeling recharged. I opened the shop today to clean and restock the place. I hope all you, my loyal customers will forgive me for being away so long.

When you have the time, please visit and say hi or even sit down for a drink. I am thinking about adding some new menu items and also considering adding a delivery service for customers who live nearby in the Sand-dong area. Please let me know what you think. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Warm regards,

Dongyo
"

That's it. I hope this was helpful enough in expressing/translating his thoughts. I also look forward to having a Negra Modelo and a fajita there. It's good to at least have somewhat of a selection in the area when deciding what to eat you know what I mean? A break from the same ol'.

Have a good one. Thanks!

P.S. When in doubt, feel free to call the number located in the first post before you visit to make sure he's there.

This guy was only open for a couple of months and he had to take a month off to prance around Europe?!!

Starting any new business is going to be tough, you have to give it more than a couple months before you run away from it.

This guy has got the work ethic of me!!! Which is why my parents think I am worthless.

Razz

I'm still gonna go check his taco place out when I go to Incheon for the Uzbeck/Russian/Tajik stuff at Ali Baba's Resto (near Dongincheon Station for those who have, say, a mere academic interest in that 'hood). And, uh, what's the deal with the Negro Modelo brews? What, are they, like, 6 grand a pop?

Thanks for the update!

Good to hear. I had given up on him. I'll give him another try.

Food is good, but he was closed 2 out of 3 times I have visited him.
