It's about people with compulsive hoarding problems. I've seen most of the 1st season. Sometimes it gets old but then there are some more unique episodes. I really liked the one with the woman who kept old food and a lot of it was rotten but she still wouldn't throw it out and said she would eat it.

I've heard there's one in which a woman has a bunch of cats and some of them are dead but I couldn't find the torrent for that one.

Anyone else watched it?

Yes. I love it, and watching it makes me shocked and horrified. I cleaned my house spick and span after watching it, just to reassure myself that I'm not one of them. Haven't seen the cat one either though.

The cat one was sad Sad

I saw one with a gay guy who thought that if he vaccuumed his dog's fur from the carpet, it would make his dog die at a younger age.

Does it discuss symptoms of potential hoarding addictions?

I'm kind of afraid I'm going to turn into one of those crazy hoarders. A good part of my day is spent downloading stuff. For example, I spend more time hoarding Wii/Xbox360/PC games than actually playing them. I think I get more joy out of acquiring massive digital collections of things than out of actually making use of them--music, movies, ebooks, etc. God... kind of a scary thought. If I start to delete stuff, I will evetually, after a period of time, decided I need it again. Maybe you'll see me on the show one day. I'm not even joking. I have a problem. I think I have dozens of terabtyes of data backed up on DVDs and HDDs.

I'm kind of like that too bloopity, I download movies though. I've got a huge collection of movies and tv shows that I almost never watch. It does seem to be more about the getting than the viewing. I also spend a lot of time online looking for new stuff that I might want to download.

But really, it's all on the computer, it's not like it's taking up space in your home.

My grandmother is kind of a hoarder but not nearly as bad as people on the show. She has stacks of tabloid magazines, she must have several hundred of them piled up. She also keeps TV guides. Last time I was at her place I found one from 1992. Needless to say, her reading material isn't very sophisticated.

You could check out the A&E website and maybe they have a number where you can recommend someone.

During my brief tenure as an Assistant Social Worker, one of my first clients was a compulsive hoarder. She was frail and elderly, so the mountains of stuff she had accumulated was a real threat to her safety. The stacks were almost 4 feet high, so she was in danger of being buried under it.
She had stacks of magazines, catalogues, recipe books, as well as a ton of goods she had acquired through mail order over the years. Most of the goods were still unopened.
It wasn't complete chaos, because she had piled the stuff in such a way that there was a pathway. It looked like Walmart in there!

Substitute urine or fecal matter for downloads and you're well on your way! Wink
