Anyone been to Saipan lately?

I'm just wondering about getting to the hotel from the airport. I'm staying at the Hyatt.

I've heard the only options are taxi or hotel pickup. I've heard taxi's are expensive and have read of fares between $20-$30. Hotel pickup is supposed to be cheaper, but it seems the Hyatt wants $20 per person!

I'm wondering what current taxi rates are. Perhaps they have gone up from the rates I quoted above.

Any help?

I was there one year ago.

If you are alone, then I suggest paying the $20. Taxis are super rip off there.

I don't remember exactly where the Hyatt is there, but I think it's downtown. Which would be $30-40 by taxi. I also suggest negotiating for the rate before getting in.

Yes it is. The cheapest meal I saw in a restaurant was $9.00 for a hamburger steak. But there might be cheaper out there.

Avoid the Korean restaurants. Unless you want to eat kalbi that tastes like dog food for $20 a serving or a bibimbap for over $10.

Hi There,

Winchell's is good for a breakfast soup or sandwich.

As for the hotel, I would actually consider the pickup service since the taxi will be just as problematic. Unless you are arriving during the day when I think there might be a bus or you could ask someone already taking people into town.

You could enquire about using the pickup service for the place right next door to the Hyatt which is the Fiesta resort and spa. They might not mind.

Every thursday night the restaurants come out and do a market and have some music.

If you do pay $20 at least you know you can get around pretty well on the free shuttle bus (from the store DFO) once you are there.
