Already looking ahead to summer...

Anyone go to Europe last summer? Can you tell me what the fares were?

I'd love to fly non-stop from Incheon to western Europe which would probably mean Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Zurich, etc.

Thanks!

The fares change from hour to hour ,so it's best to go online and check it out for yourself.

That's easy to do, but it doesn't tell me if it's a good price. Therefore I'm asking about last year's prices for comparison.

Comprende?

air fares last year were notorious for being so low due to the economic problems. as some countries are starting to not have such a bleak economy, they have risen somewhat. airfares from a year ago may not be comparable. in fact my airfare home for later this year is twice what it usually is, for whatever reason.

i got a ticket direct from seoul-frankfurt roundtrip for 1040$ travelling in march this year. obviously this is off season but at least its a start point. lufthansa has direct flights from seoul to frankfurt, and also from busan via seoul.

Depending on where you're going, the KLM website tends to have the best fares. A major advantage is that you can book flights on Air France and Korean Air through the KLM website that are cheaper than booking through those airlines' websites (especially true for Korean Air). KLM itself is pretty rubbish though!

I don't know about last summer's airfares, but Christmas time airfares in 2008 were around 1,200,000 won, but 2009 was about 800,000 won. Fares do change drastically from year to year depending on oil prices and the economy.

Just check (or better yet, sign up for) the fares newsletter from the 4-5 european airlines that fly direct to Incheon and be ready to reserve a ticket when you find that special promotion/deal.

Previous poster mentioned KLM as consistently cheap and I agree, but also check Lufthansa, Swiss, Alitalia, AirFrance, and Finnair (thru Helsinki) for direct flights. Booking a flight 2/3 or more months out from the airline's website will pretty much guarantee you the cheapest flight available, even through K-travel agents, in my experience. With taxes, should be 'round 1mill KRW (or less), if things haven't changed that much.

Cool. Good idea about the newsletters. Thanks.

Right now they're looking like 1.25 million and up.
