My locker is the most luxurious I have ever seen. It doubles as the change room for the open golf range on the roof of the building.

Why the hell do Koreans love golf so much when they almost never play on an actualy golf course...

probably because it's one of the few 'sports' (I don't consider it one) that doesn't require a scintilla of athleticism.

hard for most Koreans to be athletic when most of their lives are spent either at school/hogwan or a PC bang.

Ditto for the ajosshi crowd who worked for 10 hours a day plus in a factory, etc.

and for some unexplained reason - there's a 'status' thing involved.
perfect for Koreans.

Yeah I know about the status thing. I guess this one is better because you can actually see your ball go more than one metre...

Damn cold has kept me out of the gym all week! I can't take this!

I didn't notice about price of canned chicken because I've only had it a handful of times.


I never take showers at the gym. I don't care if I am I sweaty. I have to go home to down my shake. Plus showering at home is more comfortable. Do guys hair dry their pubes in your gym? Ugh change room nightmares. 60 year old men with their legs up on the bench drying their pubes. In and out of the change rooms quickly saves my eyes from bleeding.


I never shower at my gym either. The dressing room there is tiny, humid and just generally uncomfortable, and that's without getting stared at by the locals, pube drying and other locker room rituals.


LOL That reminds me of a guy at my old gym in the States where this guy would stand looking in front of the mirror drying his pubes while only wearing his gym shoes. It was disgusting, though so weird that it was funny.

9 minutes from frozen?

I cook 1kg packs at a time

about 25-30 min to defrost, 5 minutes to cut it all up (into little chunks) and then another 15 ish minutes to cook it all. The pan is pretty full so I need to cook on a lower heat with lots of mixing.

no, that's just stored cold in a packet like from E-mart.

when I bought frozen, I'd move the kilo packet into the frig to defrost, (give it a day or two) and then eat out of that packet till I finished it..

which would still mean 9 mins from frig to plate. With preparation, etc, 10

I bought an awesome indoor grill from homeplus. I've had 4 different indoor grills in my lifetime and this has been the best. It is all black, large surface area to grill, and even has a smooth griddle section at the side. Cost 44,500 won.


I go to costco and buy meat in bulk. (chicken breast, steak, pork chops, salmon fillets). I also buy a large box of Ziplock freezer bags. When I get all the stuff home I take out individual portions (3-4 chicken breasts each) and put them into the ziplock baggies. I'm left with lots of individual portions to use. I put them all in the freezer so I have a meat supply for 4 -6 weeks.

The night before I want to cook any of the meat I just take whatever one I want out of the freezer in the individual bags and put it in the fridge to de-frost overnight. I then have it ready for me to go when I get home from work the next day.

I throw it all on my indoor grill for about 12 minutes, turning once, throw some seasoning on and that is all it takes. The meat tastes damn good from that grill too. Very easy to make and pretty cheap when you buy in bulk.

I am too stupid to defrost overnight in the fridge. I never thought of that...
Its not that bad though. Because the rice takes 30 minutes anyway. I only cook once every 2 days. Then measure out the stuff into little containers. Which can be nuked later.

Almost died in the gym today. There was no male trainer but the woman in there said she was ok to give a spot "Don't worry I am strong" So I loaded up the bench to what I though would be a safe number coming out of a cold. Anyway my body gave up half way through the set but then she couldn't spot the weight. Then thinking oh **** through sheer panic thinking omg im going to die I managed to get it up. Scariest moment ever in the gym.

Is it relatively easy to get wheat bran in Korea? I checked on Gmarket and only got these weird caterpillar/grub things (which I certainly don't want to eat for breakfast). Is there another name for the stuff? Or an online store within Korea? Much appreciated (knowing me, I've walked right past it in the supermarket).

I have had it before, I think it was that grub thing you mentioned. It tasted only a little more bad than usual bran. But I will have a look. I think it would be a good idea to get onto some bran in the morning. Easier to down than bread.
