|
|
I am from the USA and I know that there are different processes for getting ready to teach in South Korea.
1) I have my Original Bachelors Degree but dont feel safe giving the original to my future employer. How would I go about getting an acceptable copy for my future employer.
2) Is a background check from my local police station acceptable or do i need to get an FBI background check? do i need more than one copy of it?
3) How many sealed transcripts do I need?
Thanks for any help |

Hey, I just went through the process. Take your original degree and copies with you when you go to get the CBC and have them apostille and notarize the degree copies while you are there. I got 3 copies of transcripts, sent 2 to Korean immi and kept one for myself. CBC must be state level or FBI. From what I understand state level take less time. In my case about 10 minutes for CBC. After I received visa issuance number I went to Chicago for the interview and had the passport with E2 stamp in two days. I did stay in Chicago to pick it up in person. I simply did not want the hassle of my passport getting lost in the mail. Everyone on here recommends getting extra copies of everything. All in all, the entire process took me about 2 weeks, but from what I understand it takes longer for most people. The key is to stay proactive. |

First, I believe you have to be offered a teaching position before you can send the docs anywhere. Look up the secretary of state office in NC for the apostille. If you ask really nice they should be able to apostille you degree copies when you get the CBC done. Make sure they notarize the docs too. They did in Missouri for me. CBC can be obtained through the state police. I do not know how far you live from your state capital, but it is probably easiest and less time consuming to do it in person. I took a day and got everything done in a very short amount of time, save an hour and a half drive time each way. I too am a newb, but I just finished the process this week. I will be shipping out on Sunday Feb 28. Get all document together and then email every recruiter you can find. Let them know what type of position you want and that you have all documents ready. I found that recruiters are more apt to work hard for you if you already have all your docs. From there the process will move pretty fast, so be ready and read the contract carefully.
Hope this helps. |
