Much improved over the old software.

1. They are using Flash for the interface. This is good because it scales to any monitor or resolution. It will look great on my 1080p classroom TV, unlike the old software that ran at 800x600 and stretched to be a pixelated disaster. Some of the icons are bitmapped, which is expected, but the interface itself is Flash and will scale perfectly.

2. It seems to be designed for the wide screen. The videos are all wide and fit the wide aspect ratio perfectly. No more fat stretched out videos!

3. The acting is slightly less awkward. Those old videos were incredibly awkward. These new ones are still a bit awkward but not embarrassingly so.

4. It doesn't install an icon to the desktop every time you run it. Even after deleting the desktop icons, the old software would put them right back after running it. Absolutely atrocious.

So I'm a happy camper, except that I only teach one fourth grade class per week. So I'm stuck with the crappy 5th and 6th grade software for another year Sad

You forgot to mention that lessons 1 and 2 are near identically to the old ones. That saved me having to give up a whole weekend to creating new plans and made me a happy camper!

The same applies to the new 3rd grade CD. They're both much easier to use than the old ones.

While I might be chair warming all of this week, I stilll have yet to receive the wonderious new materials of which you speak...
Tell me that Zeeto is still around though... Nothing is better than watching him fly away from Julie as she cries in the backyard (and what I imagine to be a babybump... But only because it amuses me to no end that a 3rd - 4th grade student is being courted by an alien and no one seems to care, LOL)

They should have changed the 5th grade CD. It's terrible...the acting and all.

Next school year fifth and sixth grade will get the same new CDs. So only one more year of this stuff. Unfortunately a year tends to be a fairly long time for young NETs like me, heh.

Oh yes, Zeeto is still there. Though I haven't checked to see the extent of his advances towards Julie this year. Wink

For those of you wondering, here is a small example of the horrid acting in grade 3 and 4...

Live-action Lisa seems to have transformed from a black girl into an Indian or Pakistani girl. (but the art still shows her as a black girl)

Hooray for cultural awareness!
