Just thought I'd let everybody know how it went. It was done up in Ilsan in SBS's big studio.
We had some 50 or so people, most of whom spoke near-fluent Korean and some who were quite good, but not perfect.
The countries they were from were:

US, Canada, Myanmar, Thailand, Italy, Uzbekistan, Kirghistan, Taiwan, China, Japan, Germany, England, Russia, Ukraine, Nepal, Nigeria, Kenya, Iran, and a few others I can't remember.

There were five Korean celebreties and one host...I remember the host's name, it was Jeong Eun-ah. The other ones I can't remember, but I had seen three of them before on tv.

We talked about the following:

-Koreans are too busy
-Koreans and fighting
-Koreans and sex
-Koreans and manners
-Koreans and money (one person paying for everything, etc)
-One more, I think...

We each got a rectangular name tag to put on front, then sat in rows and had about five mikes for 25 people, so one had to either grab the mike and start talking, or else just start talking which gets the mike passed over to you...

It's going to be broadcast Saturday at 5; I thought it was 4:30 before but apparently no, 5 pm. As far as I know.

I think that's it!

Yeah, two Nigerians. One just talked and talked and talked and talked until everybody lost track of what he was trying to say, but sometimes he would end it all with a really sharp point that made everybody applaud. Quite surreal.

Too bad its a show and nothing else.. all about ratings!!!!!
no foreigner will tell the truth!! it will all be.. I love korea.. I really love korean culture blar blar..!!!!
IF any foreigner talks badly about korea or koreans it will be deleted in post production!!! how do I know this???
I have worked in the Tv industry, and have worked and starred on tv show on Arrirang..
these kind of patriotic shows are nothing more than a spectacle..
they will censor so much of it... you think a show where foreigners speaking the real truth of korea will be aired!???
NOWAY!! this show is BS TV.. for ratings.. this is not America!!
there is no freedom of speech in this country...
wasted viewing!!

The show itself has about 84 minutes of footage, which includes some 10 minutes taped beforehand by various people and then the rest is debate. We actually debated for perhaps two hours so some of it will be edited. A few people spoke a lot more than the others so I assume some of their BLAR BLAR as Itaewon Guy would say will get edited.

The bits we taped beforehand were quite interesting. Here's how some of them were:

Guy from India goes to try to get a cab (real situation), but no surprise, the cab flies right by. Then another, and another. After that there's a bit where three Korean girls are waiting to meet a foreign guy one of the girls is considering dating. He shows up, they have a bit of okay/semi-awkward conversation, the guy takes off, and the girls decide that the guy's okay. The next guy that comes in is Indian. He sits down and there's no conversation, they ask him about being Hindu, he answers, but then silence. The discussion after that is about racism or reverse racism towards white people.

Another one shows a guy from Russia. He's on a train going somewhere outside of Seoul. An ajumma comes and sits down, pulls off her shoes, then her socks, and even starts massaging her bare feet on the seat in front of him. Another situation shows a white guy in the subway. A seat opens up in front of him and he's about to sit down, when swoosh! An ajumma throws her bag onto the seat from behind and takes it instead of him. The discussion after that is about Koreans and manners.

There were a few poll results and so on as well. They asked us specifically before to be as honest as possible, debate when we wanted to, make light of Korea's bad points, and pretty much just speak out mind. Even fight if we wanted...

i watched this and presonally found this a waste of time... a show like this is not suited to Koreans... they're not very open to criticism as was seen on the show. It was obvious that it was going to be the same people talking all the time, kind of indicitive of Korean television. As for Maria, she should be wearing a russian flag, not an english one

Am wondering what crowd reactions were to the negative stuff?

What do Koreans really think when we talk about the negatives, Mithrades?

Am fascinated by this topic.
