Hey,
Does anyone else think a 'Teaching Forum' would be incredibly useful on this discussion board?
I'm sure there are others out there (anyone care to point them out?) but the traffic this site gets, and the fact a lot of us are teaching the same curriculum, means it should be very useful.
I imagine 'Job-related' being split into a 'Teaching' forum, purely for teaching, and an 'Employment' forum dedicated to contracts, finding work etc.
Pros:
Increased efficiency by separating job-related forum
Sharing ideas about lesson planning should help us all become better teachers
Increased discussion about teaching methods
Increased traffic?
Cons:
Possible confusion about where to put questions(/complaints!) about co-teachers.
Some people will see discussing PS curricula as cheating your way through the job
More work for moderators
Increased traffic?
1) Do people think it'd be a good idea?
2) What are the chances of this being implemented? |

There is a teachers forum listed under the "Stuff for Teachers" tag at the top, but it's really broad and is about ESL in general.
So yes, I think it would be a good idea to have one just for teaching in Korea.
So I'll cast my vote for a Teaching in Korea forum. Maybe it can be a reality in the near future. |

| That would be awesome! Even better would be to divide it by student age group and/or workplace. |

How on earth did I miss that for a whole year! It looks a little quiet, maybe as you say it is a little broad.
A forum for Korea/PS curricula would be a good addition here or there; I'm sure it would be very busy with people sharing ideas on the best way to teach a unit when it comes up during the year. |

I agree that it would be good to have a forum "Teaching in Korea" with subforums for "Public Schools" "Hagwons" and "Universities" would be useful.
The "Stuff for Teachers" seems commercial to me; it's just a goody bag of websites to search. It's not personal or particular to Korea. A separate, easily visible Teaching forum in the Korean discussion forums site would be better. |
