Opening ceremony this morning for my new middleschool. 1000 girls all lined up on the playing field facing the speaker's stand. They intro the new teachers, its my turn, I half-bow & give a little wave, & a cheer goes up that could've been heard blocks away.
Well gosh. Talk about a heartening welcome. Thanks girls. |

Heheh I think the relationships that can develop between teacher and students in Korea are something that's really cool.
Dad was a highschool teacher way way back, before we immigrated to Australia, and he's still very chummy with his students, who have all married and had children. They still ask him for advice and invite him out for dinners with the whole family and so forth. It's the sort of close bond you rarely see back home.
