It has been proven. Kimchi causes cancer. Plain and simple. Tons of articles online. Just learn to accept the truth and don't be nonplussed by the propaganda machine here.

I tried to open a bunch of sites that said it may cause cancer in those predisposed, but they were all blocked by my school's firewall or whatever that pink security screen is. Hush hush! Kimchi best food ever for wellbeing! Laughing

I like the stuff, but only eat it once a day tops.

Just thinking:

Aren't alcohol, smoking, stress, life-style (and pickled/preserved food) the correlates for the high rates of stomach cancer in Oriental societies (Japan/Korea)?

Oh it's totally a mix of those factors, but many people don't smoke or drink and they still have higher rates. It's the salt and also N-nitroso compounds, which are likely carcinogens.

Thanks for that. Any chance of explaining what N-nitroso compounds are (for the non science artsy type guys like me)?

Very similar to the nitrates in hot dogs. Terrible stuff in large quantities.

It might cause stomach cancer eating too much red peppery foods as well as too much soup tasting like dish water cooked in a huge tin bowl. I'm sure most anything in excess, including foods, lotions, cosmetics, and localized industrial pollution, could cause cancer. Can too much water cause cancer? Yes, if it has pollutants.

Drink bottled or boiled water (tea is lovely!). Eat healthily. Breathing is difficult to change, but at least limit your carcinogens Smile

Slightly OT, but it really bothers me when they cut the carcinogens off my meat at bbqs.

Also, everyone dies. I, for one, intend to deserve it.

Very well.

How about you quote a few of those articles..... Smile

Anyway, if you eat too much Kimchee it will not be good for your health, like eating too much of anything can have bad effects.

Google is your friend, Homer. Besides, I don't care enough about this forum to take the energy to find things to prove a point. It just isn't that important to me. I'm sure you know how to find things on the Internet, right?

Having a bit of kimchi a day is fine and does have some health benefits. Having a whole bunch all the time however can cause stomach cancer.

Then again, what food doesn't cause cancer these days? I keep watching the news and they keep coming up with a fruit or veggie that they say will lead to me getting cancer. D=

Ok wishy...

One scientific article from a reputable publication that was corroborated by a serious medical association will do.

Since you said there are many of these..it should not be hard. Oh and its not up to me to do this since YOU are the one who made this superb no doubt statement:
