What sort of Criminal Check would you need if you're planning on staying in Korea for another year? Would I need to get one from my home country or should I get one from within Korea?

So long as you don't leave Korea between contracts you should not have to submit a new CRC. I transferred jobs recently and wasn't even asked for a new copy of my exam transcripts let a lone a CRC.

I was thinking about going home for two weeks to a month between contracts, so will probably have to get a new CRC. I was thinking about going for SMOE next year (in Gepik now).

No, I believe this is only a public school requirement not a Korean immigration requirement.

Yes, you are correct. Public schools only want (mine did last year anyway) a new Korean CRC if a person is transferring visas from another employer.

that makes some logical sense since if you encountered any legal troubles while in Korea your current employer would find out about it/be contacted, whereas a future new employer would have no way of knowing.

Maybe I will get in trouble for punching and kicking a korean guy who was bashing a woman up outside a night club.

Police came, not sure if they fagged me though. The woman did cheer me on, though.

If there is more than 20 days between your E-2 visa expiration date and start date at a new job you will need to resubmit all documents for a new visa. At least that is what I was told by an immigration official last year.

This.

OR if you are changing schools at contract's end.

If you stay with the same school you do not need a new CRC.
