Check this out in Beijing..
Sandstorms blanket Beijing in yellow dust
Beijingers woke up Saturday to find the Chinese capital covered in a film of yellow dust, as sandstorms caused by a severe drought in the north of the country and Mongolia swept into the city.

Deforestation + overgrazing + climate change+ China drying up= serious environmental problems. |

Days like that are the only times I would actually wear one of those stupid surgical masks. |

How can we be getting snow AND yellow dust at the same time. That's BS, I'm calling shenanigans |

Use it in IE. Google Chrome and Firefox don't seem to work. |

I was wondering why I was seeing everyone flipping out after going outside after getting off of the subway. Everyone around me was covering their faces with their clothes and I was a little weirded out cause I had no idea what was going on. I did notice it looked almost... foggy. I now know that was yellow dust.
Should I be wearing a medical mask when it's like that outside? |

This was nasty....
It would make you wonder, especially if you have kids.
Pollution in many parts of the world is something else.... |

I had a blast with this latest yellow dusting. Normally my small city doesn't get it but Sat we did. It gave the place this whole weird noir-ish hazy effect at night. Sorta like Bladerunner and something with Sam Spade in it. Normally there is nothing eerie about the streets and alleys but that night there was. It was the perfect excuse to go stroll through the alleys on the scuzzy side of town. |
