| Well, in the otherwise HEAVILY DULL Side by Side |
I had to teach that for 18 months. AAARRRGGGHHHH I hated it, except it wasn't too bad for grammar and sentance structure(like they need more of that though). |
Considering they are mostly clueless as to grammar I'd say they need *a lot more of that*! |

Then order up some Side by Side books and drill them 'til they drop! You won't be loved! |

After teaching the little devils for 10 months I began informing them it means a very big compliment.

| Never know how to quite answer that one, which I've gotten asked several times by elementary and middle school boys over the years. I usually just say, well, don't say it, it's very bad English, as bad as anything you can say in Korean. But I can't blame their curiosity. Strange even those with next to no English know "puck you".... so common in movies. |
Just tell them the Korean equivalent. |

Referring to another thread, this is why ESL is a McJob. |

I was considering an experiement. I want to teach one of my older classes to swear. I think the hard part would be getting them to use it in hte right context.
Anyone ever try it? |

TSGarp, I looked, but didn't see your comment on the McJob thread.
By the way, War and Peace is a good book. |
