Windows 7 worked just fine until about a few weeks ago. I noticed my downloads were really really slow. The upload is still super fast. I took my HP computer to the HP Service Center at Yongsan, thinking it was the LAN card. They said it was NOT a hardware problem, and must be a software problem. Not sure whether to trust them on this, but I am recovering the notebook to Vista, just to see if the problem persists. Restore doesn't take care of the issue.
Anybody have a similar issue with Windows 7? or with HP?
Not sure what could've caused the slowdown with the internet, other than a LAN card or some windows update fix messed it up. |

Are you downloading torrents? Have you checked if the port for your torrent program is open?
Most Korean ISP's are now getting strict with torrent programs and don't allow the program to make many connections. This will have the effect of slowing down the internet while you're running the torrent program.
It's almost certainly nothing to do with your OS. |

Are you using Utorrent?
If so, uninstall it. Then re-install it. The current version will automatically test your bandwidth and set an exception with your firewall -- without that, your downloads would be slow.
Needless to say, you also do not want things like transfer caps or download limits if your downloads are already slow. Check your settings. |
