Hi everyone,

It looks like I'll need an emergency place to stay in April preferrably in Seongbuk-gu (closer the better), but if you know any recommended hotels in Seoul I can stay at for a month I would greatly appreciate it. I suppose my budget limit is 60,000 won a day. What I need is a good place to sleep/study for a month.

Thanks for your help,

John

I don't know about hotels, but why not try a goshiwon? It's basically a dorm, with a communal kitchen and bathroom. I got one when I was studying in Seoul for a month, and it came to, like, 390,000 won for the month. Free internet, free TV, free rice and ramen, and I didn't have to take a bus or bother with a subway b/c it was two blocks from school. Granted, these rooms are tiny . . . mine was seven feet by seven feet, but fine for somebody just sleeping and studying.

A naver search for Seongbuk-gu goshiwon brings up the following:
http://search.naver.com/search.naver?where=nexearch&query=%BC%BA%BA%CF%B1%B8%B0%ED%BD%C3%BF%F8&sm=top_hty&fbm=1

Figure out where you want to live, then browse some of the websites, if you can navigate Korean sites. Then check out a few a couple weeks before you'd like to start renting.

if you pay a bit extra you can stay in a hasukjib which is a little bit more spacious than those box sized rooms of a goshiwon. I stayed in one in Sinchon for 430,000 per month including breakfast and dinner. They are everywhere. Just look for 하숙 and check the rooms out beforehand.
