Seriously, I've been working near Balsan station for close to two months now, and I haven't seen a SINGLE other foreigner anywhere other than Hongdae and Sinchon!

Is there anyone near my neighborhood at all? I talked with an old coworker who was there for 6 months and he tells me the same story, he never saw another person walking the street in Gangseo-gu.

I find this particularly odd because I worked a year and a half in Yangsan, next to Busan. There's only 260,000 people there instead of Seoul's 10million, and I had far fewer problems meeting people or seeing other foreigners randomly hanging out!

This place is a ghost-town!

I'm over by the Citibank, the Pizza Hut and the KEB bank, not far from the Havana building.

I live in Deungchon-dong and really would prefer to be in the area between Hongdae and Sinchon (up towards the hills on top of Dabok-gil). The 30 minute commute back & forth is getting on my nerves.

Alright, alright... let's seriously not get carried away.

As someone who rode the subway 1:45min to Haeundae, 1:30min to KyungsunDae, and also had to ride the bus/subway from Ilsan to Sinchon.... lemme tell ya.

That 30min subway ride from Gangseo to Hongdae is one of my best experiences in Korea.

I've had friends living in Samcheok and various other armpits of Gangwondo. You have no idea how good you got it.

Man-won cab rides home are glorious!!

Ya, I live right by Dunkin Donuts... I really need to start meeting more locals, I think.

I've been living out in Banghwa (end of the line) since August. But for some reason, after the latest hiring period, there has been an absolute torrent of foreigners in my area. I'd say several dozen have just moved in. There are supposedly weekly get-togethers in my area, but I haven't been to any.

I'm Asian American so whities usually just assume I'm another Korean and I don't just greet other foreigners because we share that status. In any case, I'm sure that if you end up meeting someone around Banghwa that IS involved in these meetings, you'll be set.

Where do you take your kids in Deungchon-dong by the way if they need to run around and play? Very few parks in the area...

There is a playground in our apartment complex, or we take them to the park at the river which is a short walk.

I live by Gaehwasan...I've seen some foreigners here and there, but you are right, it is a shot in the dark. I always attributed it to my work hours since I work during the day.

To anyone who's interested in PM's, I'm not yet at my 25post limit...

This is my third actual post, and I really am not feeling spammy enough to catch up.

Hate to be complicated, but I can't pm so if you pm me OR email me at
[email protected], I would definitely appreciate it.
