The Seoul subway announces the names of many stations in Chinese and Japanese. I can understand the Japanese, but not the Chinese, and it's driving me nuts every time I take the subway. It sounds something like:

Xiafengde zhan shi Yongsan, Yongsan zhan.

What's the first word in the announcement?

Usually the announce extra languages at transfer points. Not really sure why. Missing a transfer is just as bad as missing a regular stop. You still would have to get off and go back .

I don't understand why its " it's driving you nuts every time I take the subway"

Don't you think it drives Korean people nuts - when in their own country the subway / buses announces everything in English - just to service English speaking people.

Who cares if the subway announces things in Korean, then English, then Chinese, then Japanese.

Korea is trying to accommodate the outside world.

Why on earth would this drive you nuts??

I think it's driving him nuts out of curiosity (understands the Japanese, but can't make out all the Chinese).

I think the answer is: 下一次站 (xiyczhn - next station).
