Here is a free online website that if very interactive with your learning and offers live assistance with regards to speaking/reading assessment in the lessons if you want to be evaluated. I've been using this to help me acquire finite grammar points such as the 조사 in Korean.

www.livemocha.com

Enjoy! Very Happy

So far doesn't seem to be that great. Seems like another language tool put together by someone who doesn't really know much about the target language. it has fantastic review questions like:
*a picture of a calendar with December 3rd circled*
choose the right answer:
1일 2일 6일 3일

this would make a lot more sense if the numbers were spelled out like:
일일 이일 육일 삼일

and the suggested language partners didn't include a single person who was Korean or was even learning Korean.

I can't see this really being useful to anyone over existing resources.

Don't listen to crossmr, it's a great site. The chat function is great, I can practice Korean and the person I'm talking to in Korea can practice English.

How do you figure?
The first course I looked at was poorly done and not remotely useful.
http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/
this is a much better online course

chat functions on language websites aren't new.
http://hanlingo.com has a global chat right on the front page. It even includes video chat.

I will give it credit for having far more Koreans on it that hanlingo does. I jumped ahead to page 1000. Which means over 13,000 Koreans on it. These are two of the only sites I've seen that have a significant Korean population on them.

Quite a few of the other language sites I had looked before (mind you a couple years ago) never had more than 30-50 koreans on them and none of them really seemed active.

I'll give it a try. I always like new ways to supplement my learning tools. One website I have found super useful is koreanclass101.com. They have really great podcasts that are entertaining as well as didactic! They also love to throw in cultural insight in their lessons as well. It's an awesome website. There is a free section of the site, but the good stuff does cost money.

Has anyone found that like food or music, they get on well with some languages and not others...?

I've been here 6 years... Learn Spanish so fast and easilly, same with Japanese which is supposed to be very difficult for native English speakers, but I found it easier and progressed quicker than the Koreans in the calss I attended at a hakwan a few yrs back...

Korean? - I just find the vowels too many and too laborious and everything I want to say takes about 3 times as many sylables than if I wanted to say it in English... Also very awkward on the toungue for me compared to Romance languages or even Japanese which for some reason sound so pretty to me like sakura trees in bloom...
