well im from the USA, and this guy has the right idea, the US will collapse, but not bc of the reasons he's stated. Obama and the dems have plans to ruin the country, and it has been in the works for a few decades.
For instance,
who said this:
When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.
--Ben Franklin
Does that description of demise reflect the dems or repubs strategy in getting votes? the dems.
So, as every deficit the country has continues to grow, the closer to the collapse of the economy and thus the country itself. then after awhile, to bounce back, the North American Union will be created, (Canada, Mexico and the US) with the erasing of the borders, creating one Union of the three countries, and creating a new monetary system called the "Amero" (modeled after, you guessed it, the Euro) to restore the world's confidence in our currency (since the dollar will be devalued to the same stuff you wipe your butt with.) |

^ Whatever he said. But really nothing anyone can do about it, not Obama or the Republicans. Empires historically lasted a few hundred years, the US about 100 years. But I guess with the speed of information and technology, things accelerate. |

What need to happen in the U.S. is an implosion caused by the protests of the poor because the gap between the rich and the poor is too great.
The gov is hesitantly recognizing this with thie passing of the healthcare bill, but that's only the tip of the iceburg. Once in a while you have to throw the child a piece of candy to shut him up. But maybe someday a small piece of candy will not be enough. |

It depends on if "by the people" you mean the rich or the poor. |

Darn you Kenya and your ingenious plan to take over the US executive branch and topple America from within. |

Get one of these threads ev every so often! Prabably collapse is not the right word, contract would be better, but there is strong reasons that the U.s. has not hit it's zenith yet. immigration and strong technological and university infrastructure gives the u.S. an advatage, because of adaptabilioty. |

I do not particularly like Noam Chomsky. However, he is the sort of person that you do have to take seriously. |

True, which can be traced to several things:
Reagan's massive tax cuts for the rich.
The continued massive defense spending to support a global military.
Increased social security spending for an aging population. |

I personally hope that the entire world economy collapses and the globe figures out that capitalism is the worst system ever devised.
Now I am sure I will get arguments on that, but as failed as Communism, fascism socialism, etc have proven to be as systems capitalism is not exactly that hot either.
Nearly ever social problem is either created or exacerbated my capitalism, the rich need to get richer, and as a result the poor, must get poorer. Millions of people globally go without and those that have literally billions of dollars, by and large couldnt care less, and continue to try and make their shareholders more and more cash, increasing their own wealth, and selling their employees jobs to the lowest bidder.
The ironic thing is that so many average citizens are so brainwashed to think that capitalism is an excellent system because they are basically healthy (and havent had to try and pay medical bills that are not covered more of an American problem than other countries) are able to currently make payments on their houses (which the bank owns until youve fully paid it off) are currently employed, and can make regular trips to Wal-Mart for your Chinese made crap.
Many will blame the poverty of others on laziness or intelligence, these are the uneducated and the people who wish to ignore the issue.
Now globally the Americans are the biggest players on the world stage, and I am pretty sure they are the richest. I can only hope that their system suffers a catastrophic collapse that will impact the rest of the globe so that the planet can finally say yeah this system just isnt working for us or for our continued existence and just maybe we may have a chance to figure out a new system that will work before we destroy the planet, and our society as we know it. |

Man with the crystal ball and all the secrets, maybe you could enlighten us about the Democrat's socialist master plan. The largest part of the spending that has taken place under the Obama administration has been related to the economic bailouts which I believe many economists would argue was a success. Just look at the profits we reaped from Citibank. Health care reform was absolutely necessary. Our greatest economic challenge was the ever inflating price of covering the uninsured in our country. I would argue that the Health Care Bill does not properly solve this problem, but it's not because the Democrats didn't have the right idea. Rather, it's because they caved to Republican and Corporate pressures to drop the public option, which in itself was just a weak substitute for the single payer system that we truly need.
If you wanna know what the true dangers we are facing in this country, just look what's going on with Goldman Sachs. They've had their greedy hands around the economic throat of this country for decades. The cases against them stand a chance to open a whole world of corruption.
All of you guys hoping for some great collapse of capitalism are living in a fantasy land. I would be scared to death to see what would actually come out of an full economic collapse in the U.S, or more importantly, around the world. The kind of economic change that we need deserves to happen through reform. The problem is that too many people fall victim to the trappings of general ignorance to the political process. The Republicans are playing this country like a fiddle. Two years removed from one of the most troubled administrations in our nation's history, the GOP once again has middle America eating out of their hands with the help of all the crazies in the Tea Party. The Obama administration certainly has their share of blunders and corrupt ties, but they are making real efforts to change the political and corporate culture that has led us down this perilous road you are all predicting.
Good luck in 2020 |

If a President from either the Republicans or the Democrats stops the bail out big business will yank his or her funding. The only way to stop certain sectors from 'voting themselves free money' as you put it is to bring enough popular pressure to bear to counter the influence of big business. |

This guy is full of crap. Here is how I know that. Chaos theory tells us that small (even unmeasurable) initial differences lead to large changes in outcome. Any historic comparison between the US and other countries around the world and across history can at it's best be suggestive because of the large initial differences. What you absolutely cannot get from such a comparison is an end date. There is no way to be that specific. It is unjustifiable.
Will the US fall? Of course. As Tyler Durden says "On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero."
Could it fall by 2020? It could. It could also last a 1000 years. No telling.
This guy is an unethical attention seeker. He makes a bold claim that gives him attention for the next decade. If he ends up being right, then he is hailed a genius. If he is wrong it doesn't matter because he retire off what he has made giving talks and selling books.
Anyone who pays any attention to this guy is an idiot. |
