I was just thinking if there were web-cams set-up all over Korea from teacher's homes or wherever pointing at whatever (preferably an interesting point outside) that it would be kind of cool. Family and friends would likely like it. There's a lack of web-cams for Korea. Or am I wrong? Thailand on the otherhand- well- there's several to see what the weather is like, a beach, or even a club. I don't know if there's a page for web-cams on Dave's- but- what do you think?
Perhaps if the mods see the poll is high they can pass it onto Dave. |

How would that be at all helpful?
We have enough self-indulgent, narcissistic posts of irrelevance. I can't see how it be of value to Dave's, to discussions of ESL teaching in Korea or to our lives in general.
One could start one's own webpage and post the link here. That'd be sufficient, no? |

Actually there are plenty of webcams in Korea. There are actually popular internet sites here which use them for chatting. Many PC rooms have webcams.
sorry to burst your bubble.... |

Helpful- well- I've found that one of the first things people consider when thinking about going to another country is "What does _____ look like?" That includes apartments, nature, people you hang with. People want a feel before they go.
Secondly- a bit cynical aren't we in assuming narcissism? Anyway- the world is too far gone to convert people away from narcissism. If you can't beat em join em.
Finally- a library is easier to go to than to collect one book at a time. Dave's is a big enough library that it might collect 10-20 web-cam links after 1,000,000 hits per month. Smaller web sites- well- people just wouldn't link or even care it existed. Believe me- I've tried the smaller ESL-web-site-great-ideas. Anyway- just a thought- cast your vote- I guess that means- no.

I'm thinking it would be more interesting seeing something of where teachers live, the garden outside, or even a teacher's get together. There are lots of humorous people on this board and I'm sure they would provide no shortage of humorous web-cam shots. So- when I speak of web-cams- I'm not thinking of pc rooms or chatting. By the way- what percentage of cities in Korea have a web-cam? I thought there were only a few. |

I'm sorry I don't understand this question. Anyone can buy a webcam. Do you mean an outside camera showing the streets and countryside? |

Was thinking cities with a cam looking down at streets full of people, beaches, mountains, or famous sites. Perhaps there are more than when I last did a search- but- the last time I searched there weren't many compared to other countries.
Sorry- I should have clarified. |

They are probably all on Korean webpages. I have seen them used on the news. |
