I've been suffering from slow internet lately. Whether I'm hooked up directly to the internet or through my router or wireless net work I'm lucky if i get 3 mbs using speedtest.net. Usually I'm getting less than 2mbs and sometimes less than one. We had an SK technician come over and he used sk's own test site. Using the modem the speed was around 20mbs and without the modem it got up to 100mbs. I insist that something isn't right. He just blames my router, which he claims is too old. Its a belkin54g, and it is about 4 years old. But that doesn't explain why i have trouble streaming videos to my computers. I can't stream video from www.southparkstudios.com to either my desktop or notebook whether I am using my router or I am plugged directly into the wall. Anybody have any idea about what is going on. I also have some problem with some HQ video from youtube. |

Was in a similar situation recently and asked the same kind of questions in the thread titled internet speed questionagain. Look there for more answers if you want but the advice I got was this: Speedtest.net does not provide an accurate test base for us here, and you do indeed have to test from an SK to obtain a fair representation. Also, download from torrents to get an idea of your capability.
There are so many things that can have an affect on your speed. Good luck finding out exactly what it is and let us knowalso what are you paying and who are you with? It could be a matter of upgrading as well? |
