im thinking about buying a netbook. i dont know a great deal about computers. but my general requirements are that i can travel everywhere with it. use ms office. specifically power point. and when im away from home to be able to use it to watch movies, download and stream stuff online. i think my budget would be max at about 500,000 and i live near yongsan and have korean speaking friends to help me buy.

any advice is helpful. cheers

Hey, I was just in the market for a netbook so I happen to have just been to Yongsan. They all seemed to be about the same deal: around 400,000 ~ 500,000 depending on brand and specs.

We wound up buying one from Canada and are having it brought over by visitors. We good an ASUS eee PC 1005PE. It looks amazingly good for what it is, 250GB ram, a much stronger battery than some others at 6 cells (~11 hrs), and a possible extra 500gb of only storage through HP. They do look to retail in Korea if you look on the ASUS website.

The one thing I noticed, and perhaps others can correct me if I'm wrong, is that netbook and laptop computers can be very expensive here. I'm guessing that might be because most brands are domestic and the imports are prohibitively taxed, so yeah, my conclusion is that you are wise to buy abroad and have it brought here (if that is at all possible.)
