| I just accepted a job near Olympic Park that starts in a couple of months, and would greatly appreciate any input about the area. Any good restaurants I should check out? Does it have any good bars? Anything about the area would be helpful, thanks a lot. |

| Jamsil is pretty close there's a tasty Thai restaurant (Thai Sala) on the 2nd floor of Lotte Castle building, exit 3. Lotte World is also there (exit 1 I think), it's not bad for a small amusement park, couple of rollercoasters, in the main complex there's a skating rink and bowling alley and loads of chain eateries, pizza hut, marche etc. I can't recommend a Korean restaurant because there's heaps and I like all the ones I've been too. I like Gangdong. |

| Lots of variety near the road leading from Olympic Park to Mongchontoseong stations. The subway map makes it look like it's in the middle of nowhere but that's not the case. |

Olympic park is actually part of "Songpa-gu" which is right next to Gangdong-gu"
In Gangdong-gu there are heaps of restaurants at Cheonho and a large market there.
in Songpa-gu, you have all the western fast-food chains plus a HEAP of Korean, Japanese and Chinese restaurants in amongst the love hotels hidden in behind Mongchontoseong Station.
My favorite Sushi and Sashimi restaurants are hidden in there.
Just a 7-minute walk down the road and you are at Lotte which has heaps of restaurants including "Sizzlers".
Although I did see TGIF just closed down for some reason. |

Forever-
I live right around there and I have been looking for a good sushi/sashimi place. Can you give me a name and some directions on how to find this place?
Thanks! |

Gangnam and Konkuk University are within reasonably short distances though most foreigners prefer Hongdae/Sinchon (maybe a bit too much of a trek though from Gangdong Gu) |

| I lived in Gangdong last year and it was fine. I loved being so close to Olympic Park. There are plenty of bars around for your nightlife needs, but you'll probably end up taking the subway to Itaewon or Hongdae etc. anyway. Gangdong does seem a little far away from everything but luckily you can hop on the subway and get anywhere pretty quickly. |
