I am doing some traveling on the way home and I am conflicted on where to go! I'm spending 12 days in Thailand and then I'll be flying into Kuala Lumpur. I was thinking of either spending a week in Borneo or a week in Cambodia. Each place has its own appeal and I just don't know where to go!

What would you suggest if you've been to both places?

Borneo for sure! Unless you're into temples, then Angkor Wat is a must see. But otherwise, I enjoyed Borneo 1000x more. The food, people speaking English, not being harrased for money, range of activities.

Just curious, are you talking about Indonesian side or Malaysian side of Borneo. Both sound interesting.

If you go to Borneo, skip Brunei. Mt. Kinabalu is great if you're fit and have a couple days.

I was thinking of going to Kota Kinabalu. I don't think I can climb the mountain but there are several island excursions and diving to do. Are there places you can go to see wild monkeys in Kinabalu?

You can do a 3 or 4 day hike of Kinabalu, which shouldn't be that bad. Anyone could do it I think.

AND...for diving. SIPADAN IS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN!!!!

I just looked at pictures online and WOW! I really want to go there! From Kinabalu, is it easy to get there?

I have traveled to both Cambodia and Borneo. I recommend Borneo, for simliar reasons posted above. If you want to experience some spectacular diving, you'll want to leave the Kota Kinabalu area. Sipadan is where it's at. We took a 6 hour bus from Sandakan. From KK, I believe it's around the same time, if not longer. If you want to dive off Sipadan this coming summer, you'll need to book NOW. The company my friend and I went through had to put us on a wait list for passes to dive Siapadan, and we contacted then 9 weeks in advance! Enjoy!
