I have already passed the interview and EPIK has all my documents, so I want to buy my plane ticket before the prices starts going way up. I have heard that it is not a good idea though, because they can possibly cut people still but I have been thinking I am going to go ahead and probably get my ticket anyway. Has anyone else bought their ticket yet?

Firstly, I would suggest spelling "anyone" correctly if you'd like a response that addresses your question and not your grammer.

Secondly, if you are hired (contract signed, etc) then buy your ticket. It's not SMOE and they won't suddenly fire you.

Is there a limit to what your school is willing to reimburse you? I have never booked any of my tickets more than a month in advance knowing how things can change at my school. As far as pricing goes, I had never cared much because my school has always reimbursed me the full amount. My one way ticket here was almost $1000 and i got every signle penny back.

i am guessing they spelled it that way because "anyone" was too long to fit in the subject heading.

Other than this i can't contribute as I am already here

There is a difference between an error and the use of middle school chatspeak. Though the irony is still noted. An English teacher misspelling a subject they purport to teach. Evil or Very Mad

'Misspelling' is spelled right, right? Embarassed

1) Topics in most internet forums have character limits.

2) Never call someone stupid and misspell it.

3) Firefox has a built in spell-checker. Just saying.

Haha yeah real nice post Jonpurdy. "Anyone" doesn't fit in the subject heading. Yeah so I guess EPIK-SMOE gives everyone the same amount to cover their plane ticket when we get there so I was thinking I could make some money if I got my ticket now, because the prices are low right now. Is it too risky at this point?[/quote]

Buying your ticket BEFORE you have your visa in hand (or letter of appointment) IS risky. If anything screws up (and it often does in these matters) it is YOU who gets stuck paying for the loss or the EXTRA flight.

The risk of losing your ticket (often flights booked from North America have major restrictions) is NOT worth the potential saving of a couple hundred dollars.

How many times have we seen posts like "EPIK paperwork was delayed and the flight is tomorrow - HELP!!"

.
