Lots of good recommendations here. I especially second John Carpenter's "apocalypse trilogy" (Thing, Prince of Darkness, In the Mouth of Madness).
Brad Anderson's Session 9 would be my recommendation. Just a warning: you'll be left with a very icky feeling after watching it. I didn't feel quite as disturbed as I felt after watching the Korean film called The Chaser, but it was a close second. And without giving too much away, I'd tell people who have kids to stay away from it. Aside from that it's fantastically filmed in the creepiest location possible (a real abandoned mental institution), and does a very good job of portraying what working for a blue-collar business in America can be like. |

I downloaded Wolfen last night after seeing it referenced in a Dresden Files book. Geek power!
Haven't watched it yet, but it's got 73% on Rotten Tomatoes. |

I will definitely have to check that out! It just makes me wonder though...who could possibly outdo Tim Curry? I still can't see him on tv without getting the creeps. |

Forget Quarantine, watch the original spanish version [REC].
Another spanish horror. The Appeared, if you can find it.
The Orphanage was ghastly. Not sure why someone would have suggested it.
Also check out this indie horror, The Last Winter, with Ron Pearlman.
City of Children(French)
Definitely The Descent and Let the Right One In.
But I didn't know they made a sequel to The Descent.
Anything with zombies. I especially love zombie comedies(ie Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead. |

I grew up in Southern Ontario. So we got the famous Buffalo New York Channels like channel 29 and Channel 7
Channel 29 was famous for all those sexy 1960's Hammar horror films.
There was plenty of gore mixed with generous amounts of clevage and the some lesbian Vampire scenes.
I really miss those days. |

I watched Drag Me to Hell and it was a little too over the top and cheesy for my taste.
I did like the Descent: Part 2. Claustrophobia at its best. |

That's Sam Raimi for you. I enjoyed it.
Descent Part 2 was total shit compared to the first one.
Now Troll 2, that's a real sequel.
Don't forget Pumpkinhead 2, he drops a wicked backbreaker on some guy. |

Boo, Tim Curry can't be replaced.
All these remakes are shit(Friday the 13th, Nightmare)
