Hi all,
I start work in my hagwon today. I don't know whether I'll be teaching or observing but thought I'd be prepared and so have been gathering info online. Has anyone on here got some good games or activities they have used? The kids are middle school age ( I think).
Thanks in advance |

Buy a Janga tower. Write simple questions on each block. Students take turns removing blocks and asking questions until the tower falls. You should be able to pick one up in most department stores. |

Good for small hogwan classes. Tends to flop in public schools

A reading/writing relay; write a small introduction about yourself and print it off. Make two photocopies and then split the class into two groups. Each group has to run to the piece of paper make a mental note of the sentence, run back and dictate it to one person in the group who will write it down on a spare piece of paper. Students cannot take the piece of paper and they need to leave it on the chair/desk. The first group to finish the relay and writing activity correctly is the winner.
You could follow this up with comprehension questions; what is the teacher's age? Where was he/she born? etc. |

Your hagwon needs to have a curriculum dude! Don't go in there blind.. seriously. you're gonna spend as much time making a curriculum as you will teaching. just buy books and use the curriculum they give you. don't reinvent the wheel |
