I inherited a fish tank from a leaving teacher a few years ago and I've just finally decided to get rid of it.

Important to note here that I'm in Wonju (and no I won't ship it. Rolling Eyes )

I found a picture of one like mine here: http://www.thefishfarm.com.au/img/productImages/dm400.jpg

I replaced the filtration system with a side mounted one becase I found that I was having trouble with algae blooms. Plus to clean the filter I just throw it in the washing machine and hey presto good as new. (Though I do still have the system's original components.) It also comes with a cleaning hose and gravel filter as well as an automatic fish food feeder which I have quite forgotten how to use but I think I still have the Korean instruction manual. I also have a tank heater.

Current Residents:

1 large black algae eater (goes by the name of Norbert he's got to be at least 4 years old)
1 of those orange bottom feeders.
And a handfull of guppies (Third or fourth generation)

I used to feel bad about them eating their offspring so I'd do the whole nursing tank thing but honestly they just breed way to freely. I just keep some plastic plants on the bottom of the tank where a few babies manage to hide and survive when the population drops low enough to support more fish. It's a working closed system and darwinism at it's finest Very Happy

Maintanance:

About once a month I will empty most of the water and replace it with fresh stuff. If I think of it I change the filter whenever I put a load of rags into the wash, and when I get really energetic I'll take out the plants and use the gravel filter which is just attached to the hose (Always check for hidding babies before doing this.)

Just a note here. If you don't have a filtered water system in your apartment you should let the water sit for at least 24 hours or at the very least a few hours while you're away at work or something because plain tap water will kill the guppies. The bigger fish handle it better.

Write me if you're serious.

Cheers.

This sounds totally sweet. If I lived closer I'd be all over it.
