I've been going through their English website, and so far all I've found is a lot of relatively useless information. I can't find anything useful regarding the number of miles you need to earn to travel.
I usually use Aeroplan (connected to Air Canada) and so far it's been great. Do any of you know if Skypass operates similarly? Where can I find a chart that shows how many miles you need to go to different destinations?
Thanks |

On Their website go to "skypass / redeem miles / award tickets" and there is a table of miles required. Looks like USA is 60,000 and SEAsia is 40,000 miles.
It used to be that their miles never expired, but that may have changed now. I used them once to get a reward ticket on Delta in America. |

Thanks a lot, Drew. I'm not sure how I missed that.
Unfortunately, most of those amounts seem pretty high. It looks like I'd need about 4.5 return flights to Vancouver (at more than $1,000 each) to get 1 peak season flight to Japan. Pretty disappointing. |

I have a similar question. I have 10,000 miles, enough for an internal flight I would like to take this weekend. How do I redeem them? I see no option on the website. |

If you have your school buy your flights, then the miles are free. 5 flights to the US is enough for a free upgrade to prestige class. So teach in Korea for 3 years, go home once a year, and you can get a free prestige class flight for your way home!
Also, a good way to boost your miles is to get a Korean Air skypass Visa card. 20,000 bonus miles for signing up, and $1 (or 1000 won) = 1 mile. |

The thing to remember is that Skypass is actually an alliance of about 17+ carriers. Fly on any one of them and you get miles.
ADD your Star Alliance card from A/C and you add 20+ more carriers around the globe.
Combined you accumulate miles on more than 40 carriers.
Hard not to accumulate miles and short haul upgrades are worth spending your miles on. It is nice to have a bump on your 4 hour flight to SE Asia to first class in return for your flight from Canada to Korea that your school paid for anyway.

There are only a certain number of seats on each flight that are made available for mileage redeemers and they tend to get all booked up very quickly on popular routes.
On the website, go to Skypass, then click on Award Booking. You need to be logged in to actually make a booking or enquire about award booking seat availability. I've a feeling it only works for international flights on the English page.
On the Korean page, it's 스카이패스, 보너스신청하기, then 항공권 보너스 예약 바로가기. Then 나와 가족에게 보너스 발급하기, "domestic" and after that it's fairly self explanatory.
If your Korean isn't up to that, just call them and try over the phone. I'd suggest you do it pretty soon because there might not be that many left at the times you want. |

I wouldn`t waste that on an internal flight. Build them up and save them for something more long haul....C class long haul ideally or even an upgrade to business when you go back home at the very least ,not some internal Korea flight that only costs 60,000 won anyway.
It`s common knowledge (at least in the frequent flyer world) that burning your miles for short haul is one huge waste......
PS: OP, the Sky Pass program is crap IMO. Try to find another Skyteam program (that includes Korean Air as part of their alliance). |

Can you convert Skypass points to another Skyteam member, like Delta? |

Well do you already have a Delta account? I have a United account and I flew on ANA to Japan. So through the United website, I filed for my miles on ANA. They were awarded into my United account. |

I have both Delta and ANA accounts so that's why I'm hesitant about accumulating points on Korean Skypass. I know I can use my ANA points, for example, to apply for a flight on another airline via the ANA website. Thus I was wondering if I can transfer points between accounts. |

You can't transfer your points from Skypass to the Delta frequent flyer program if that's what you mean (some airlines might status match but that's about it) but you can book award tickets through the Delta website for any Skyteam alliance member.
On many occasions though airlines make it their utmost difficult for their members to book award tickets.
The forum below is pretty good too.....frequent flyers who know the respective programs inside out.

You can sign up online.
If you are from Europe, I would recommend you sign up in the KLM part of the (Skyteam) alliance: the miles add up faster. If from US, NW, well, now Delta I suppose.
Yes, you can spend KLM miles on other Skyteam member flights, including KAL. |

another program that has become terrible since last April when they introduced new changes.....all your hard earned miles will expire after 18 months if you don`t fly with them on top of numerous other things, in particular 25% miles on the `cheap` tickets which makes redeeming for awards difficult unless you stump up for the full fare tickets each time.
You will take forever to save for an award ticket....and when you do flying Blue have one of the highest taxes for the `free` award tickets.
Most Flying Blue members (in the frequent flyer world at least) are switching to Star Alliance programs which offer better conditions. BMI are particularly generous....I got 3,000 miles for signing up, then 12,000 miles recently for a 3 month trial economist subscription (which I cancelled after)....easy peasy
The only thing Flying Blue has going for them is the half price promo awards.
I suppose if you`re based in (or have to fly via) Paris or Amsterdam, it might be difficult to avoid using them.
In saying that, most airlines are doing their best to devalue their award programs these days....
