I told my k-teacher and handed to her a Korean Air schedule for a flight back to my home. By the way this airline offers the most direct route while the rest make two stops and take about 20 hrs while this one takes 14 hours. My teacher's response was,"that is too expensive." I tried to explain to hear that it does not matter according to my contract and it has to be the most direct route. She claims that she gave the office my KAL print out,but I think she also gave the office a travel agents offer. I will finally get to my question, sorry, would the school be able to find a flight the most direct or even with two stops for under 2,165,000 krw(that is what KAL was charging) Confused

Possibly. 2.165, though?! Geez. That's patently absurd.

I seriously doubt you'll get that ticket. You may just have to bite the bullet and pull a longer flight. I mean, seriously, do you expect them to pay hundreds of ks of won more (how much more, actually?) so you can get home 6 hours earlier? That's a bit unreasonable.

My contract states the most direct flight and Korean Air is the only one that offers the most direct flight and there is no set price on my contract. If they did not go with the most direct flight, say one extra stop, would they be able to find a flight for 1,600,00 won? I looked at United,American ,and Korean airs websites(only airlines that fly to my home) and they are all charging the same amount roughly. Confused

dude
they are supposed to pay the most direct flight (allowing for only one layover) however seeing as how it saves the POE a couple hundred dollars, you won't have much of a case.

If you purchase(d) your own ticket this would be a non-issue as they would have to refund you the money

I understand they are supposed to pay for the most direct route, but are you saying they can/they will be able to find the cheapest flight? Confused They will book it? By the way, if they want to get cute with the contract,I re-read it and noticed the flight coming here says most direct route, but leaving just says that I land at the airport that I started out at when I left my home Shocked

I just went ahead and bought my ticket. Won't be much they can do, although I was able to find a cheaper one than the previous 2+ one I had previously booked.

Is it normal for a school to wait a month before the find a deal on a flight? I was told they were working with a travel agent. Confused

Don't be a dick. Just accept the cheaper flight and the extra 6 hours, or suck it up and pay the difference yourself. You're school is on a budget, you know and isn't made of money.

The way I always did it was I found a flight that was reasonably priced, ran it by my coteacher who ran it by the finance lady and then got the go ahead to buy it. Usually over the course of a day or two I'd get the go ahead to book it. Then when I got back to Korea they reimbursed me, just to make sure I actually came back to Korea...

Before you open your mouth and act like what you claimed I should not be , know your facts about my situation by asking questions, such as is there a price limit for your price back home. Rolling Eyes

I get it. Your contract doesn't have a price limit and they should buy the most direct route. So you think you should be able to get any ticket. There isn't much about your situation that's hard to understand. I'm saying you're a dick by trying to make your school buy a really expensive ticket when they don't really need to.

Again you should ask the next question and that is what airline offers the most direct route? Gee, the only one who offers it happens to cost the same as the one that are not the most direct. Rolling Eyes But seeing how you care so much that the district, not the school has to spend. I think you should be their lawyer Laughing

OK, where are you flying to? 2,000,000+ won for a one way flight seems absolutely ridiculous. Buenos Aires is about the exact opposite end of the Earth from Seoul, so I could understand if you were flying there, but I doubt you are....

People who nickle and dime every little thing about their contract bug me.
