As you may know, I switched over to Windows 7 recently but have come across a bit of a hiccup. I usually use KM player, but this is crap with W7. The video is very pixelated.

I tried GOM and that works well for the usual avi/xvid files. However, HD files (usually mkv with x264) sometimes go blocky for a few seconds here and there.

I'm trying to find a solid media player that will play everything. Any suggestions?

Edit: No worries, I tried VLC and that seems to work perfectly.

Eamo turned me in to Media Player Classic Home Cinema. It frickn kills. I couldn't get my htpc to play HD for the life of me. Mpchc crushed it.

For ease of use, I use VLC, but Media Player Classic is very good.

VLC for most avi. type stuff.......

MPC-HC i.e. media player classic-home cinema for HD stuff. This software has the DXVA function....which will offload the processing from your CPU to your GPU......

Cheers for all the suggestions. I tried out MPC HC too. Looks good, very clear HD but you do need to install codecs for it. The CCCP was good, all codecs and the player in one bundle.
