Hey guys,
I've been looking at different recruiting agencies and I was wondering what some of the best and most reliable ones have been for current ESL teachers in Korea. Right now I am considering online sources Seoulteaching.com and Gone2Korea.com, but I am curious to know what good experiences ppl have had with different agencies. Has anyone had particularly good or bad experiences with the ones I mentioned? If not, what agency did you find helpful?
I will definitely take into consideration the feedback I get on here in making my final decision!
PS I have my heart set on Seoul. I don't really want to go to the countryside or another city. One of my friends went to Seoul and told me great things. |

I thought you were joking because the names sound kind of cheesy but I googled and lo and behold, they are legit.
The only thing is, for Say Kimchi, you have to make a brief video and upload to their website.
Also, is Appletree still around? I tried to find their website and had no luck
Cheers, and thanks for those references |

Try checking the FAQs (go to the index, then click on FAQs). There's a huge thread on recruiters that is fairly up-to-date.
Personally, I recommend WorkNPlay (http://worknplayconsulting.com) and KorVia (http://korvia.com). |

From personal experience, I can recommend Korvia without hesitation. Footprints comes highly recommended, as well. |

I'm working with Korvia right now as well and the woman I am working with is very responsive and persistent with interviews. Plus she isn't afriad to tell me if I can do something better (ie. the interview video). So I'd higly recommend them as well! |

I recently had contact with 3 recruiters. Gone2Korea was the most helpful. James made an appt for a telephone conference with me and spent about 20 minutes going over what I was looking for and things I needed to know. He was very knowledgeable.
Some others will try to steer you from Seoul and push other cities on you so be prepared to stand your ground.
I ended up getting a job directly through a hagwon just after my conference with G2K, so I didn't end up using them, but I was impressed with the time he took to answer my questions in detail. |

JJ Recruiting is a good one. I have been in contact with Serrah. She is great and very responsive.
I had no luck with G2K and several others. A lot of them did not reply to my email once they saw my picture. I'm not ugly, but I am black. |

Say Kimchi says to upload a video, but i didn't.
it just helps them better sell you. They got me a good gig. The one in charge is Lindsay, and she is very helpful.
I went through Gone2Korea too, and had a lengthy chat with James as well... he is a good guy, but i did not go with them.
I can honestly say that most recruiters just shovel the crap jobs at you, or do not even bother replying to your resume if they cannot sell you.
I was in this same boat a few months ago asking about recruiters and i used a lot..... and trust me when i say Say Kimchi was the best. |

From the time you started to the time you got the job about how long was that. Also, did you have prior teaching experience and how old are you if you don't mind me asking (just so I can stress over getting passed up because of my age). |

It all depends on your preference. Some people could get a job in 1 day if they're open to any city and age group. I was pretty selective. I wanted Seoul or Busan, but there wasn't anything there ( or that's what I was told).
It took a few months for me. The biggest hassle is getting all the background check and things like that.
I basically started looking to work in Korea late Feburary and got my job in late March or early April. I don't have any prior teaching experience, but i did have a good G.P.A. and I did graduate with Honors. I am 24. |

Thanks for the response. I'm kind of the opposite. I'm looking to stay away from Seoul or Busan and get somewhere a lot smaller. |

Korea Recruiting.
They have get-togethers for teachers, phone support, and go to bat with your hagwon if you EVER have problems. |

Park English hooked up someone I know with a sweet job in Seoul. I guess they have lots of positions in Seoul because, at the time, other recruiters told him "no Seoul" or "Seoul impossible" and he had basically given up on finding a job there. |
